Hugging the rugged shoreline of Lake Superior, Canadian Pacific GE AC4400CWM 8032 guides train no. 118 through Mink Harbour with a train fit for a publicity photo amongst some spectacular autumn foliage at Coldwell, ON.

Union Pacific EMD SD70M No. 5000 leads an eastbound UP freight out of one of the bores of the Hermosa Tunnels between Hermosa and Dale, Wyoming, on September 25, 2003. The eastbound grade is readily apparent here.

Going through yet another slow order, RUPO is seen passing the switch at Den behind a trio of GP40s at a blistering 10 mph. This switch was previously known as Fairgrounds East, but was renamed to Den as part of general renaming of several sidings on the old Maine Central.

Am 15. Mai 2022 verbracht ich mehrere Stunden in Ovelgünne. Einer der ersten Züge welche ich dabei fotografieren konnte, war dieser hier (geführt vom blitzblanken MEG 145 Doppel)...
Van de 15 mei heb ik reeds meerdere foto's hier laten zien. Één van de eerste treinen die ik die dag kon fotograferen was deze hier (een lange goederentrein met een tweetal MEG locs uit de serie 145)...
Two MEG class 145 engines were headed east with a long freight train on May 15th 2022 and were spotted from high up in the air in Ovelgünne.

Just east of the old siding at Squaw Brook is a nice ledge formed from glaciers, and a touch of dynamite, which affords a nice view of the tracks crossing the water. CP 142 is seen hustling along behind a nice consist of two CMQ barns bracketing a former Soo Line SD60, after the sun that had been out had disappeared behind the clouds, per usual.
Die Locon 248 012 fuhr am 28. März 2023 mit einem Güterzug gen Nord-Osten. Dank ein Hinweis aus Brandenburg/Havel (Danke Ger) konnte ich den Zug bei Golm fotografieren.

Die Captrain hat zwei Loks der Baureihe 248 im Fahrzeugpark. Einer dieser Loks, die 248 010 fuhr am 9. Mai 2022 mit einem Güterzug von Satzkorn nach Senftenberg und wurde, kurz nach der Abfahrt, in Bornim Grube fotografiert.
Captrain heeft in Duitsland twee locs uit de serie 248 in gebruik. Één van deze twee locs, de 248 010, reed op 9 mei 2022 met een goederentrein van Satzkorn naar Senftenberg en werd vanuit de lucht te Bornim Grube gefotografeerd.

Het dorpje Oberaudorf ligt in zuid-Bayern (vlak voor de Oostenrijkse grens) en is bekend voor het bekende klooster (Reisach).
Een aantal jaren geleden was het nog mogelijk om richting het noorden treinen te fotograferen, inmiddels staan hier geluidsschermen en is deze blik niet meer mogelijk.
Op 18 september 2008 ging het gelukkig nog en fotografeerde ik TX Logistics 185 512 die met ÖBB 1144 255 en een goederentrein naar Kufstein reed.
Aus der Zeit wo diese Perspektive noch möglich war und es noch keine Lärmschutzwände gab..
TX Logistics 185 512 war am 18. September 2008 mit ÖBB 1144 225 (kalt) und einem Güterzug unterwegs gen Kufstein und hat bei Oberaudorf das Ziel fast erreicht...
Gone are the days where one could shoot trains - headed for Kufstein - and the convent in Oberaudorf in one frame.
Unfortunately sound proof barriers have been placed here and have completely ruined this shot.
Seen here is TX Logistics 185 512 with ÖBB engine 1144 255 and a freight train on September 18th 2008.
Only a few more minutes till Kufstein...
An absolutely gorgeous June afternoon finds manifest NS 13Z making it’s way west over the New River in Radford, VA along the Pulaski district. The colors on Union Pacific’s Katy heritage unit pop against the sky as it heads toward its destination of Knoxville, TN. Behind the power is old intermodal containers now used for trash.

Ein paar Minuten nach halb fünf am frühen Morgen des 15. Juni 2021 überquerte eine HHPI 159 die Templiner Seebrücke in Potdam mit einem langen Güterzug.
's ochtends vroeg op 15 juni 2021.. iets na half vijf..
Het is heerlijk rustig en ik zie reigers, eenden en zelf een otter in het water. Voor ongeveer een halve minuut wordt de rust verstoord omdat een HHPI 159 met een lange zware goederentrein over de brug over de Templiner See in Potsdam dondert. Daarna keert de rust terug... tot de volgende goederentrein komt :-)
June 15th 2021, Lake Templin, a few minutes after 04:30 AM. It is quiet and there is a sense of serenity. That is until an HHPI class 159 engine crosses the railway bridge, creating a lot of noise for about half a minute...
After that.. it was nice and quiet again...
In de zomer van 2022 werd de vakantie samen met de vrouw en dochter doorgebracht in Tsjechië. Uiteraard vond ik het niet heel erg dat de dames wederom voor Tsjechië kozen, want mijn bucketlist qua treinen in dit fraaie land is nog best wel lang ;-). De eerste twee weken zaten we in de buurt van Nymburk en de derde week nabij Uherské Hradiště.
Om zwarte zaterdag grotendeels te omzeilen, werd besloten om vrijdag vlakbij ons vakantiehuisje nog een nachtje in een hotel te overnachten. Heel strategisch werd gekozen voor een hotel bij Ústí nad Labem. Na aankomst vrijdag kon ik aan het eind van de middag nog even kort de stek bij Vanov bezoeken en zaterdagochtend ging ik zo vroeg mogelijk naar de stek bij Církvice om de uurtjes voor het ontbijt door te brengen bij het spoor. De verwachtingen qua cargo waren niet heel hoog gezien de zaterdag.
Ik hoefde echter niet lang te wachten op de eerste goederentrein en dat was direct ook een erg fraaie. Hier zien we de IDS Cargo 193 276 met een graantrein richting Ústí nad Labem bij Církvice op 16 juli 2022. Daarna kwamen in korte tijd nog eens vier goederentreinen en wat losse locomotieven langs. Al met al een fijn begin zo van de vakantie ;-).
Die Werbelok 186 534 der Metrans pendelt ständig zwischen Duisburg und Poznan. Am 31. Juli 2021 ging es mal wieder nach Polen, südlich von Golm konnte ich diese Lok aus der Luft fotografieren...
De Metrans 186 534 maakt reclame voor de "Silk road" en rijdt vast op de route Poznan - Duisburg. Op 31 juli 2021 was de loc weer eens onderweg naar Polen en kon ik deze met een volbeladen goederentrein ten zuiden van Golm fotograferen...

Am Abzweig Anger verzweigte sich einst die Angertalbahn zur Hauptstrecke von Wedau nach Troisdorf, wobei der Ast nach Ratingen West der ältere ist. Der Abzweig nach Tiefenbroich wurde erst in den 1920er Jahren für den zunehmenden Kalkvekehr gebaut - seit 1983 ist er als einzige Verbindung übrig. Mit gleich drei 221 (128, 115 und 131) recht übermotorisiert war der lange Leerzug Gdg 58147, der kurz vor dem Umbau das aus Sichtgründen sehr hohe Vorsignal nach Ratingen West unter den erstaunten Augen der Ratinger Sonntags-Spaziergänger passiert.
A rather dry summer has caused water levels to drop significantly across the state including here at Moose Bay. Aside from a bit of mud, I was able to walk out fairly far along the shore to shoot a wider shot of CP 251 heading west behind CP 8867 and CP 8847.

Die für LTE fahrende ES 64 F4 - 205 war am 15. Juli 2023 mit LTE 193 740 und einem Güterzug unterwegs gen Polen und konnte früh am Morgen bei Neugarten fotografiert werden.
Dispolok ES 64 F4-205 (rijdend voor de LTE) had op 15 juli 2023 naast de LTE 193 740 ook nog een goederentrein naar Polen aan de haak. Op de "Schnellfahrstrecke" te Neugarten kon ik de trein vanuit de lucht fotografieren.

Op een zonnige lente avond komt de 193 717 bestickerd met reclame voor de Locomotive Workshop Rotterdam met een keteltrein de Moerdijk brug afgereden onderweg voor BLS naar de Botlek.
Die MEG 112 is zurzeit für DB Cargo im Einsatz und pendelt täglich zwischen Nauen und Seddin hin und her. Am 8. November 2022 konnte ich die Lok mit ein paar H-Wagen auf dem Weg nach Seddin bei Bornim Grube fotografieren.
Loc 112 van de MEG is momenteel voor de DB Cargo actief. Dagelijks rijdt de loc tussen Seddin en Nauen met een aantal waggons. Op de foto van 8 november 2022 is de trein op weg naar Seddin en wordt te Bornim Grube gefotografeerd.
MEG engine 112 is currently helping out DB Cargo and is tasked with bringing a freight train from Nauen to Seddin and back every day. In the picture - taken near Bornim Grube on November 8th 2022 - the train is headed for Seddin.
Geluk met de zon had ik op 6 maart 2021 toen ik de LTE 186 941 in Golm fotograferen wilde. Na meer dan een uur wachten, had de stralend blauwe lucht plaats gemaakt voor vele wolken en eigenlijk ging ik er al vanuit, dat het niets meer zou worden. Uiteindelijk lukte het toch en was ik meer dan verheugd met de opname. De trein reed door werkzaamheden dwars door Potsdam en Berlijn...
Ein wenig Glück hatte ich am 6. März als ich die LTE 186 941 - welche aufgrund von Bauarbeiten mit ihrem KLV Zug nach Poznan über Potsdam Hbf und Berlin Westhafen fuhr - bei Golm fotografierte. In der Stunde wo ich warten musste, hatte der strahlend blauer Himmel Platz gemacht für viel Wolken und ich hatte schon damit gerechnet, dass es nicht mehr klappt mit einem Sonnenbild.
Glücklicherweise passte es am Ende doch noch.. wie man sehen kann :-)
After having waited for over an hour (in which the beautiful blue skies had made way for a ton of clouds) I was ready to throw in the towel on March 6th 2021.
I wanted to make a sunny picture of LTE 186 941 which was headed for Poznan in Poland with a freight train and which was rerouted via Potsdam Hbf because of work being done on the Berlin outer ring. Unfortunately, the train was waiting roughly 10 kilometers from where I was standing for over an hour (during which the weather conditions changed).
In the end though, everything worked out and I was able to get the shot I wanted...
DB loc 185 295 was op 20 maart 2009 met een korte gemengde goederentrein onderweg naar Seddin. Te Nudow heeft de trein het eindpunt bijna bereikt, slechts 10 minuten zijn het nog tot Seddin.
Bei Nudow hatte ich am 20. März 2009 Glück mit dem Wetter als die 185 295 gerade mit einem kurzen gemischten Güterzug gen Seddin vorbei fuhr. Das herrliche Licht am späten Nachmittag sorgte dabei für die passende Stimmung..
