Awaiting better signals at the east end of the siding, CP 9-114 is slowly pulling through Cherrywood on the main with a pair of ratty GEs for power, the leader especially disgusting after a recent visit to the coal sprayers out west. Scattered along the side of the right-of-way here are some oxeye daisies which make for a perfect foreground prop on the last day of spring.
Montana Rail Link’s Helena switch has two cars for the lime plant at Townsend, Montana, as it drops downgrade just west of town on June 30, 2017. Led by spiffy GP9 No. 109 and recently-repainted SD40-2XR (rebuilt SD40) No. 265, the Helena switch worked the cement plant on the Montana City branch and to Townsend.
CSX B731 exits the west end of Walpole Tunnel on the MBTA Franklin Branch. This train has just made the run on the main from Readville and will soon take the switch at Walpole Interlocking. From Walpole the train will take the Framingham Secondary north for the Nevins Yard in Framingham.

A chance glimpse online and I spotted that the tug had worked the empties inbound from Doncaster earlier in the morning. With a path in for the return to Liverpool, it was worth getting out the house for. I haven't managed anything other than a corporate coloured shed on this working until now, indeed I believe this train has only experienced class 60 haulage a handful of times since starting.
A tug on the coast with the sun shining meant for happy faces all round for the small gallery that had assembled!

A bitterly cold morning finds CSX's M436 grinding up the 0.62% grade at State Line Tunnel, which is directly below me. With about 100 cars trailing, and one of the engines isolated for "fuel efficiency" they're only doing about 10 mph, but they'll soon pick up speed as the top of the grade is just east of the tunnel.

Taken about an hour and a half after my 12 Months of the Same Image shot for June, 2015. The storm to the west was slowly moving southeast and gradually the sunset snuck out from under the clouds. This is seven minutes after sunset. And as if almost on cue, at the exact moment of sunset, 10:02 PM MST. hordes of mosquitoes attacked me. It was time to pack up and head on home, however, I was in location and had to get one last shot.

New Richmond, terminus du train, n’est plus qu’à 3 milles, mais le même train représente tira tôt le lendemain matin, avec une équipe différente mais tout aussi sympathique en direction de la cimenterie de Port-Daniel. Remarquez la peinture rouge de la livrée Multimark du CP qui refait surface sur le toit de la 1865.
