Now that the Rumford jobs are running seven(ish) days a week again, there's finally something to get pictures of over the weekends on District 1. PORU is seen banging across the Androscoggin River bridge into Lewiston behind one of the better looking Big G GP40s, the 305.

It was soon clear that the next freight trains would cross each other around Wonck
So I decided to take position in the mid of field from where it would be relatively easy to make good shots in both directions, moreover as one of Lineas’ Traxx locomotives in corporate design was announced for the westbound train.
The eastbound was the first to appear, a short tank wagon train passed at 12:19 in Wonck with an Akiem rented Traxx in front of it..

On May 24, 1991, a westbound Rio Grande freight passes under Red Cliff Bridge, also known as “The Green Bridge,” while passing through Red Cliff and approaching Belden siding on Colorado’s Tennessee Pass. The graceful cantilevered steel arch bridge was built in 1940, and is 471 feet long and 200 feet high. It carries U.S. Highway 24 over the Eagle River and Rio Grande’s main line, as well as the old road into Red Cliff.

The golden colors of autumn light up the hillsides above Tolland, Colorado, on the morning of October 1, 2008. Westbound Union Pacific MDVRO freight passes by as clouds roll off the Continental Divide and create moving shadows on the mountain scenery. Battenkill Railroad RS-3 4116 rolls south approaching Railroad Ave in Sushan, NY. This railroad is truly a time capsule of 60s railroading with Alco motive power and a rather unmodernized scenes.
As much as I try to avoid using my drone whenever possible, there are some times when I'm just too intrigued as to what it would look like. I didn't expect the view of the Battle River Valley, looking northeast, to be half as pretty as this - but I couldn't help but feel amazed looking at the drone controller. A westbound grain train led by a newly rebuilt AC44C6M set the stage, as they rolled across the expanse. Although the trestle looks smaller from the sky, the true size of it is amplified when you can see the whole train in one image. I try not to fall in love with drone images too often, as I think they're kind of cheating… but I couldn't think of a better photo to end the trip with.

A westbound RCPE train rolls through Essig, MN on a beautiful fall evening. This is the third train I've caught here this year, and I have to say I like the low fall light the best. Unfortunately, some road construction would hold me up for about 10 minutes just east of here, so I'd miss another shot I'd wanted at Sleepy Eye. I managed to catch up for one more at Springfield before the clouds rolled in.
