CN 368 has the GT heritage unit (CN 8952 in fresh GT paint) last out as it passes Beaconsfield just after it had met counterpart CN 369. Ahead are CN 2285, CN 5684 & CN 5776. With only CN 2285 on-line (and restricted to notch 7), this 117-car train is not making track speed.

This new overpass at Kent, MN has been in place for a while, but this is my first chance to get a picture of a train from it. Fortunately, this southbound crude oil train had to wait for a meet at Wolverton, allowing the sun to rise far enough through the smokey haze and provide decent light to the scene.

Double headed QJ 2-10-2's haul a heavy freight train crossing Si-Ming-Yi viaduct on the way up the Jingpeng pass in the Inner Mongolian Semi Autonomous Region of the PRC. The viaduct was also known to us as curving viaduct for obvious reasons! The Ji-Tong Railway was completed in 1996 and was steam worked until 2007, the last I heard a tunnel was being driven through the mountains so this route may be abandoned by now. This photo, taken in 2004 or 2005, was on a previous Flickr account but has now had a touch of processing. A 645 transparency on Fuji Provia 100.

The QJ (to "go forward" or "advance") Class became the primary mainline freight locomotive on the Chinese rail network by the 1980s, and were then displaced by diesel locomotives from 2005. After the end of steam on the national Chinese railway network many QJ locomotives were used on industrial lines, as well as on the Ji-tong railway.

A pair of ex-CSX GEs are tied up just east of East Deerfield Yard on a POED that apparently hadn't moved in over two days. The PanAm had a rough few days leading up to this photo so I'm not surprised if it sat a bit longer.

The turn to Bowling Green has a flared SD70MAC leading as it rolls down the #2 Main at Lebanon Junction. Welders were working on the #1 somewhere which meant the southbounds were on the preferred track(in my opinion) for photos.

When I die, oh bury me deep

Down at the end of old Chestnut Street

Place the stones at my head and feet

And tell them all I've gone to sleep

Freight train, freight train, run so fast

Freight train, freight train, run so fast

Please don't tell what train I'm on

They won't know what route I'm going...
