Even if you zoom in tightly, you will often find that large areas of the picture are wasted. A simple solution is to find something that will fill this unused space.

By changing the viewpoint, something as simple as an overhanging branch can be used to cover over a dull area—effectively creating a border around the image. This technique can be extended to provide a complete frame within the viewfinder...

Framed by Akihiro Nakamura

This was actually a cart before the horse case, where the frame determined the picture: a few years ago when I framed grandfather's paintings I ran off five or six feet more molding than I needed, just to be on the safe side. So then I made up one more frame with the leftovers. It allowed for a painting just under 7 x 9 inches (after adding in the linen-covered liner frame. This made obvious sense as a frame for a still life.

Defective framing delivered by an Anchorage general contractor [Erik Dawson, Dawson Development]. This framing was demolished following extensive documentation. These photos are made available for framers, contractors, and clients as an educational tool.

The sari's create a frame which leads into the brightly lit stores. The contrast is just nice to make the picture illuminate from the centre out.

MAJORAS' MASK (Project: Terrible Fate)

Yesterday I started making a frame for the back of the mask, this will be then painted and carved to look like an rusty old metal frame. Right now im working on the rust details then start working on an idea I have for the inside of the mask.

Last weekend I found the frame I wanted for my next art show piece. If you're in the USA and near one of the Tuesday Morning clearance stores, they can be a great place to find frames.

Thank goodness too since it's due for hanging May 3rd. I love it. I'm tossing the mat - cheap acidic paper and a bit ugly to boot. I'm not sure what color of mat I'll use. It really depends on the colors of the finished piece. Usually I make the art then find a frame, but in this case, the frame came first.

My new frame, a vintage Motobecane track frame.

Took this photo in Twickenham- love the lighting and colours with joined up graffiti on the walls. The person walking through was framed in the light at the end of the tunnel. Perfect timing!
