Still life photography is something I haven't really tried before. For my 3rd photo in this assignment I tried to think of something less obvious than my other two images, so I excluded the actual cutlery and went for their shadows. I used ambient light through a window onto A2 sketch pad paper as it has a slight texture. Converted image to B&W.
Due to the light travelling through double glazing, the shadows have a double edge giving the impression that they are out of focus, which is a shame. They are in focus, as can be seen in the texture of the paper.

This wooden frame was for sorting post. It is divided into three sections by metal grilles, and the shelves and table both have lips with stickers on the front showing road names.

A render of still frame of a custom built 3D model of Hoover Dam. The model was developed by Ideum for a collaborative project with Hoover Dam and the Bureau of Reclamation.This model was used a series of interactive that were built for educational outreach.
Active Assignment Weekly - Organic - A lot of interesting photos, from my POV, are shots that focus on, or have incorporated, a visual graphic quality. Sometimes the graphic quality is the form of an object as is often the case with architecture, but sometimes it may be the shadows cast, or a mix of form, light and shadow that create a graphic quality. Sometimes very organic things are very graphic in quality such as a stand of straight-trunked trees. Organic shapes, also called curvilinear, are associated more with living and growing things such as humans, animals, and leaf shapes for instance. This week's assignment is to combine these two: to capture in a single photo, images that have both a graphic and an organic shape or shapes as significant components of the photo.
RESTRICTION: Take a single image with both features.
DARE: Capture something that has a living element in it - try not to go too abstract.
WIT: Seeing the suround all rusted and the lines running through the door, so put Mitzi in the frame and there you have it.
Alerted by the desperate calls, out of nowhere, a small herd of goats - i had not seen before - descend from way above the kid on a plateau hidden from view. A mom and her kid come down to see what 's going on. It's Fiona and Skip - I recognize them the mom's markings are distinct. They are a welcome sight.

I landed trackside around noon and as it turned out I was in for a long wait before anything happened, a bit of a surprise since the two trains that I knew were out there weren't all that far off. First up was this eastbound Z, an interesting catch on its own since until recently it ran at night

Kiwis are handprinted - with simple stencil. The red fabric is from old altarboys' vestments. So glad I could finally used it for something - and it turned out to be a fantastic fabric for stencil prints.
