Worked the late evening shift and spent the majority of my dinner break waiting for the Moon Rise on the east side of the tower. It was disappointing... so it's yet another sunset framed by the tower structure.
I'll hit streams before work tomorrow!
I love how the one lower branch looks like it is grabbing for the gazebo! :)

The Salish Sea and False Narrows between Gabriola Island and Vancouver Island in the background. Note the clear, shallow water, a refreshing change from many lakes, rivers and oceans. As you'll see, the clear water is now at risk.

Two traditional timber-framed shops in High Street, Ross-on-Wye. The one on the right 'Tudor Sweets' evokes the history of the country, while the one of the left offers the more exotic traditional Chinese medicine.

For speed, Rob kindly helped with these shots tonight, and the second one was his idea.
Rather than paying out lots of money for a warping frame I decided to have a go a making one; the frame is oak and the pegs are hazel (one still missing!). This is it's first warp, a 7m charcoal wool for use with the recycled tweed I unwound the other day.

This skeletal tower is 104 stud's tall and will become the base for the next iteration of my Forerunner canyon.

Of coarse I love the natural textures in this image, but I especially LOVE the natural framing!
I know this is 'not my norm' portrait.. and it's a creepy-ish photo of my handsome [temporarily green] husband.. I love it just because of the lack of processing needed in this situation to achieve this look - how convenient! Also I love the memory.. We had so much fun getting ready for- and shooting these images.

"The Germans are coming" I've been after Picard Tool of Germany for years to produce a American style framing hammer!
So I'm very pleased to add to my collection these very well put together framers!
The fit and finish are what you would expect from a tool maker like Picard. The inside of the claw caught my eye; very sharp, will not let go of a nail being pulled. The face is rather small vs most framers, but I believe most carpenters are more accurate than they realize.
The leather handles model is so nice, it could used as a retirement presentation for a builder or carpenter.
My oldest had her first semi-formal on Friday night. They went all out! Hair appointments, talking me into doing photos for them, sushi reservations, and then the dance. At this rate they'll expect to jet off to Paris for the day before senior prom!

I had a hard time getting a frame for the picture. The mattes would cut off to much of the sides. then I found this frame. I can't decided if I should pay to have it professional framed?
Today I selected one of my older photos, one from the last summer. As it was still taken with my old Canon 450D and I only had 3 brackets, it was great that everything worked so fast while editing it compared to my new photos :) For those interested, this is the Minaret in the middle of the chateau park in Lednice, Czech Republic

Even if you zoom in tightly, you will often find that large areas of the picture are wasted. A simple solution is to find something that will fill this unused space.
By changing the viewpoint, something as simple as an overhanging branch can be used to cover over a dull area—effectively creating a border around the image. This technique can be extended to provide a complete frame within the viewfinder...
It works well in dull weather to help counteract the effect of flat lighting.
