SEPTIC FLESH considered to be one of the pioneers of the Hellenic death metal sound, were formed in the 90’s.
After a demo entitled “Forgotten Path” and a Mini Lp entitled "Temple of the Lost Race" they managed to attract the attention of the French label Holly records, gaining access to the wider underground scene.
Their first full length album entitled "Mystic Places of Dawn" was recorded in April 1994 with M.W. Daoloth (from the cult black metal band Necromantia) as Co-producer.
One year later, in June 1995, they released "Esoptron", a dark opus with deep ancient Hellenic musical influences and themes dealing with philosophy and the occult.
The album that followed two years later, was entitled "Ophidian Wheel". The band added female vocals to the formula, recruiting Natalie Rassoulis. The neo-classical experimentations gained ground, adding a more theatrical dimension to the band’s sound.
In March 1998, the band released "Fallen Temple". It was a “crossroad” that represented the past of the band (the compositions of the rare “Temple of the Lost Race” re-recorded) but also presented a glimpse to the future, with some new material. In September of the same year, was also released a limited EP entitled "D.N.A Choronzone", which included the video clip for the song "The Eldest Cosmonaut" and 4 special tracks.
In June 1999, the band invaded Sweden to record with acclaimed producer Fredrik Nordstrom "Revolution DNA". The album was launched in October 1999 and presented highly addictive material, with a more straight forward metal attitude.
The first era of the band was concluded with the release of “Sumerian Daemons” in 2002. This album was the turning point to a more brutal and bombastic sound, while the dominating choir parts in Ancient Sumerian language, created a truly demonic atmosphere.
The next chapter of SEPTICFLESH (with the two words merged together from now on) begun in 2008, as the band signed with French labor Season of Mist and released "Communion". The album was recorded once again at Fredman studios in Sweden, with Fredrik Nordstrom as producer. Music-wise, it was a bold step forwards, as the band decided to utilize for the first time a full orchestra. The Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague was chosen for the task, while Chris Antoniou, having obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degree in concert music in Londod, was responsible for the classical arrangements. The result was a unique merge of Death Metal heaviness, with Symphonic rage.
The next album "The Great Mass" was released in 2011. This time, the band collaborated with Peter Tägtgren for the production. The songs were heavy and at the same time highly technical and experimental, as the orchestral parts were further evolved. In addition the band collaborated with two exceptional female vocalists, Androniki Skoula (Mezzo Soprano) and Iliana Tsakiraki (Soprano). The overall result was a Grand dark metal "soundtrack".
The latest effort of the band is "Titan" released in 2014. The album was produced from Logan Mader. The title of the album, pretty much sums up its sound and general atmosphere. Primordial, menacing, majestic. Besides the use of Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague for the third time, the band worked for the first time with the Children Choir of Prague, adding an eerie tone to the songs. After long years of experimentation, Septicflesh have reached to a point that their metal and symphonic elements are fused together in a solid unity. The song "Prometheus" (that is very indicative of this balance between power and atmosphere), was chosen to visually represent the album, in the form of a video clip.

These tin roofed farmhouses form a large part of my memory of the Irish countryside. There were a huge amount of them around in my childhood, not so many of them now in the second decade of the 21st century. Of course corrugated roofs would have been much cheaper than slate and must have been much easier to manage than thatch so I wonder if they represent a transition from the traditional thatch to modern slate ones. Back then I didn’t concern myself with these socio-economic questions I just wondered how they could hear themselves above the sound of a heavy Irish rain beating down on their iron roof. Maybe they used sign language.
Either way, in the last 30 years or so the owners felt it wiser to move into a brand new house next door, making sure it looked like it came straight out of 'Bungalow Bliss' a book of ideas and designs for the amateur self-builder from the 1970’s. As is now typical of so many houses out here in the boonies they just look like a copy and paste from this book of anondyne architecture, bland, boring and totally lacking in aesthetics.
In fairness It doesn't look like the corrugated roof was the issue for them. Like most houses up until the 60's or so, foundations were rare, with walls placed straight down on compacted earth. The two big cracks on the right and the one on the left are testament to that. An inbuilt flaw that took decades to come to fruition, leaving a little Titanic out here in the heart of the boglands of Ireland.
My right hand rebel company is movng around the fenced in field while Martin tries to get his men in order. I could only get the two left groups of Rebs into formation the entire game.

Forma la colección permanente un numeroso conjunto de piezas (más de siete mil, sin contar libros, documentos y fotografías), de lo que se expone aproximadamente un cincuenta por ciento, que se agrupa en cuatro grandes áreas: Biología marina, Carpintería de ribera, Pesca tradicional e Historia de la navegación. Hagamos una breve descripción de sus contenidos.
Biología marina
El área de Biología marina sirve como una introducción al medio marino, y está formada por una amplia muestra de flora y fauna marinas, que abarca desde los tiempos prehistóricos (representados por numerosos especímenes fósiles), hasta los peces vivos que evolucionan en unos pequeños acuarios. Hay una espléndida colección de malacología, con bellos ejemplares que sorprenden por su brillo y colorido, y también crustáceos, corales, esponjas, aves que habitan los acantilados,..
Carpintería de ribera
La Carpintería de ribera puede considerarse uno de los puntos fuertes del Museo, pues hace honor a la importancia secular que tuvo en Luanco, donde se construyeron innumerables embarcaciones para todos los puertos del Cantábrico. Se ubica en la nave central del Museo, donde se ha reconstruido el casetón de un astillero, formado con elementos auténticos de antiguos talleres: herramientas, plantillas, gálibos, vagras, piezas de madera.
Pesca tradicional
El área de Pesca tradicionalestá próxima a la de Carpintería de ribera, compartiendo con ella la nave central, ya que entre ambas existe una obvia relación de complementariedad. Conforma esta sección una gran variedad de artes y aparejos de pesca -redes de abareque, volanta, palangres, caceas, cales, nasas, cedazos, trueles, fisgas, poteras,...-, clasificadas según las especies a capturar, todas del entorno del Mar Cantábrico -bonito, congrio, lubina, xarda, palometa, merluza, besugo, pulpo, angula...
Historia de la navegación
La sección de Historia de la navegación ocupa la segunda planta y en ella se hace un recorrido por la evolución de la tipología de los buques, con la exhibición de casi un centenar de maquetas elaboradas con todo detalle. Desde la remota Antigüedad hasta la actualidad, se pueden ver barcos egipcios, fenicios, griegos, romanos, vikingos, que dan paso al desarrollo de la vela con la carabela portuguesa, el galeón español, los espectaculares navíos de gran aparejo y los rápidos clipers, para desembocar en los barcos de vapor y después en los de motor.

Kensington Gardens, once the private gardens of Kensington Palace, are among the Royal Parks of London. The gardens are shared by the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and sit immediately to the west of Hyde Park, in western central London. The gardens cover an area of 270 acres. The open spaces of Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Green Park, and St. James's Park together form an almost continuous "green lung" in the heart of London. Kensington Gardens are Grade I listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
Kensington Gardens are generally regarded as being the western extent of the neighbouring Hyde Park from which they were originally taken, with West Carriage Drive (The Ring) and the Serpentine Bridge forming the boundary between them. The Gardens are fenced and more formal than Hyde Park. Kensington Gardens are open only during the hours of daylight, whereas Hyde Park is open from 5 am until midnight all year round.
Kensington Gardens has been long regarded as "smart" because of its more private character around Kensington Palace. However, in the late 1800s, Hyde Park was considered more "fashionable," because of its location nearer to Park Lane and Knightsbridge.

The kapok is often associated with the supernatural. In Africa, the kapok is also considered sacred. It is said that sleeping on pillows made of kapok cotton will bring good luck, purify and empower your material and spiritual energy and bring good dreams and saintly vibrations. Slaves brought to the Caribbean often slept on mattresses and pillows stuffed with kapok. Interestingly enough, this custom was often shunned by white planters and plantation overseers who believed that sleeping on kapok pillows brought about nightmares

In its wild form, this little fish is a dull green/brown colour. The domesticated forms have altered dramatically over time, with Males like this one sporting brilliant colours & long flowing fins.
As their name suggests, the Males are highly aggressive towards each other & in its native Thailand & Malaysia, these fish were kept for fighting, often with large sums of money being wagered on the outcome.

Ross Craig (1926-2012) was a local historian born in Stockton and dedicated much of his life promoting and conserving the history of Stockton, NSW. He possessed a wealth of knowledge about the suburb and was a founding member of the Stockton Historical Society and co-editor of its magazine. Pat Craig supported her husband’s passion for history, and together they made a great contribution to the Stockton and Newcastle communities. We thank the Craig Family and Stockton Historical Society who have kindly given Cultural Collections at the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia, access to the collection and allowed us to publish the images. Former Civil Defence bunker i Skanderborg, Denmark. Built i a unfinished german WW2 bunker. Preserved in unique unaltered 'cold war' state and i now a museum.
Den tidlige beredskabskab bunker i Skanderborg. Bygget i ikke færdigbygget tysk bunker fra 2. verdenskrig. Bevaret i unik og uforandret stand som da den kolde krig sluttede.
The Grundy v Grundy Charity Wrestling Event took place on Saturday 27 May 2023.
It was a tribute to the late Dave Grundy.
There were 8 wrestling matches across the evening culminating in the Dad v Lad bout. When dad Michael got to grips with his son Jack.
Michael is Dave Grundy son and Jack his grandson.

Wrestling lost a great man with the passing of Dave Grundy.
Dave has been a stalwart of the British Wrestling scene for the past 30 years forming the Wigan and Leigh Wrestling Club. Through this Dave did tremendous work in the local community volunteering his time helping to make an impact on all young and old who he crossed paths with.

Fresh Start – New Growth is designed to help Christchurch residents reconnect and form a new trust with the land following the recent earthquakes – “it is going to be dynamic, interesting and will really capture the imagination of visitors to the show”.
Dan, who is also a geologist, says getting our hands back into the soil is important to help rebuild the trust that everyone had in the city’s strength and stability.
“We need to learn how to adapt to our new perspective and accept the challenges that face this city. The ruins of our city are the building blocks of our future and we need to rebuild afresh – strong, lightweight, stable and organic.”
He says Christchurch residents have always been gardeners and to move forward, trusting our homes and land again, “we need to get our hands into the dirt”.

For five days each March, Christchurch’s North Hagley Park is home to one of the world’s best flower shows and horticultural events – the Ellerslie International Flower Show.
The annual gardening and lifestyle extravaganza attracts a global audience of garden designers, garden lovers and international media, championing the best of garden design, garden trends and new products.
Most importantly, the Ellerslie International Flower Show provides the horticultural, floral, landscape design and construction businesses with the opportunity to showcase to the world the best of what New Zealand has to offer.
Ellerslie has built a reputation as New Zealand’s annual flower show and just like the famous Chelsea Flower Show in London forecasts the latest garden design trends and plant fashions. Visitors to Ellerslie get the first chance to see the hottest new plants, colours and looks by the country’s leading landscape architects and garden designers.
The Show also supports the grassroots of the gardening industry with a strong focus on community involvement and special displays for floral art groups, horticultural societies and garden clubs.
The Christchurch City Council purchased the Flower Show in November in 2007 to enhance the city’s international reputation as New Zealand’s Garden City – developed last century when Christchurch hosted The Great New Zealand Exhibition in 1906-07 - and to celebrate the city’s rich cultural heritage.
Christchurch is now working to develop the Ellerslie International Flower Show as one of the top five shows in the world.
