So another year has fluttered by in the wink of an eye... it's been a tough one for many, but today I'm choosing to remember the happy moments and special times spent with friends & family : )
The butterfly (an ogomadara) itself was black and white, and was about the size of the palm of my hand.

This small seabird species ("Fluttering" is the name, not just a descriptor) breeds only on the islands of New Zealand.
I met an amazing young birder, naturalist and photographer, Oscar Thompson, on the boat shortly after seeing these birds and he identified them for me. Later he was a wonderful guide for us on Tiritiri Matangi Island.

Here is the the most beautiful Variegated Fritillary butterfly. A welcome vistor to my lantana. One of the best part of summer is these vistors to my flower garden.

Flannel Flowers (Actinotus helianthi) seem to be blooming prolifically this season, possibly a response to the prolonged dry conditions. Tomaree National Park north of Newcastle has some particularly fine displays in its sandier areas.

Took a walk at Mission Island and saw these plants fluttering in the wind. Glad enjoying nature is still free
