I have always felt that music is the most powerful of all art forms. I wish I had the talent for creating music. Although I have tried on many occasions, creating music is not one of the talents I possess. But it remains the most powerful means of expression and a massive part of my life. We all have that internal soundtrack...

"Flutter" is one of four mosaic murals called "The Lily Pond on Beechwood Ave." The works made from post consumer recycled plastics were created by local artist Barbara Verner.

Common Grass Blue (Zizina labradus)

I spotted a few of these fluttering around today. They don't sit still for long!

We spent the entire first morning around the lodge.

This was my favourite dragonfly of the trip. I had never heard of it before seeing one but there were quite a few around the ponds throughout my stay. I spent a lot of time on the trip trying to get a photo of one I really liked. This was one of my best efforts.

I've never tried anything like this before, but it was fun. I am taking an introductory Photoshop class even though I have been using Photoshop for quite some time and know just enough as far as what I need to do with conventional photographs (or maybe just want I think I need to know). This is a composite (obviously). I used abstracted trees for the background, a couple of texture layers and a photograph I took of a butterfly painted on the bottle. I isolated the butterfly from the photograph and used it over and over, making them different sizes, etc.--so many layers!

Common Name : Peacock

Species : Inachis io

New species in my collections. I found it yesterday near my house. Have a great Weekend all!

Sandhill crane family (two parents and two colts)

Despite how it may look, these birds weren't vocalizing. Rather, they were practicing gular fluttering, to help cool themselves on the hot October afternoon when I took this shot.
