Happy Flutterly Friday!
Here is the the most beautiful Variegated Fritillary butterfly. A welcome vistor to my lantana. One of the best part of summer is these vistors to my flower garden.
Have a great weekend everyone. I will try and catch up with Y'all as soon as I can.

Flannel Flowers (Actinotus helianthi) seem to be blooming prolifically this season, possibly a response to the prolonged dry conditions. Tomaree National Park north of Newcastle has some particularly fine displays in its sandier areas.
Yep.. things continue be totally crazy in my world! But the good news is, things are guaranteed to get MUCH better from here on out! :-) I am still busy and in the midst of starting a new business! More to come on that soon. :-)
This is a shot I took a few months back and is really just a tool test, but couldn't bring myself to throw it in the reject bin! ;-)
I will be doing a LP Photo Walk again this Friday and I am looking forward to getting out and doing some Light Painting with a small crowd again!

Large single bed quilt made for Gran using hand dyed gradient fabrics by Vicki Welsh. October 2012. Blogged with more detail here: sampaguitaquilts.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/the-butterfly-qu...
Fotografía capturada a finales de este pasado mes de febrero de 2017 en la playa de Monte Gordo en el Algarve portugues.
Recomiendo ver en grande / I recommend see in large.
Two Monarchs that had been doing aerial mating dances were just landing on the flowers but the sun went behind the clouds at the same time causing my shutter speed to lower creating wing blur. Decided to keep it for something a bit different. :)
I hardly know one butterfly from another, sadly! But there were lots of different ones up there in the Haute Savoie - along with a multitude of beautiful wild flowers! And as summer seems to be on it's way out, I thought it would be nice to resurrect a few!
And they credit fact, force, battering.
I dance my way toward the family of knowing,
embracing stray error as a long-lost boy
and bringing him home with my fluttering...

Part of the butterfly mobile that hangs over the blue chair in the nursery. I love this thing (and Roxie can't be bothered with it yet! WOOHOO!).
(And LOOK! I'm playing HBW!) :-)
Lanterns float above Korean New Year's festivities...
Korean New Year, commonly known as Seolnal (Hangul: 설날; RR: Seolnal; MR: Sǒlnal), is the first day of the lunar calendar. It is the most important of the traditional Korean holidays. It consists of a period of celebrations, starting on New Year's Day. Koreans also celebrate solar New Year's Day on January 1 each year, following the Gregorian Calendar. The Korean New Year holidays last three days, and is considered a more important holiday than the solar New Year's Day. [1]
The term "Seolnal" generally refers to Eum-nyeok Seolnal (음력설날, lunar new year), also known as Gujeong (Hangul: 구정; Hanja: 舊正). Less commonly, "Seolnal" also refers to Yang-nyeok Seolnal (양력설날, solar new year), also known as Sinjeong (Hangul: 신정; Hanja: 新正).
Korean New Year generally falls on the day of the second new moon after winter solstice, unless there is a very rare intercalary eleventh or twelfth month in the lead-up to the New Year. In such a case, the New Year falls on the day of the third new moon after the solstice (next occurrence will be 2033). Korean New Year is generally the same day as Chinese New Year, Mongolian New Year, Tibetan New Year and Vietnamese New Year. A commonly used Western name to describe this festival inclusively, although scientifically incorrect, is Lunar New Year.
