i've been going through a lot of stuff the past couple months and i woke up at four am this morning to my roommates being idiots so i stayed up, waited for the sun to rise, and took this photo.

Shot in the beautiful English garden at Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Glad to finally see a few butterflies in the lantana along the dam at the park. Very harsh light but kind of liked the flutter motion on this Monarch even though not the best quality. :)

Macro Monday - Translucent

I took this idea after seeing my pillowcases blowing in the wind on my washing line. I noticed that with the sun backlighting the material I could see the butterfly from the design on the underside of the pillowcase showing through to the topside!!

The Sedum at Wind Point were just loaded with Skippers and Painted Ladies Butterflies. It was so cool to see them crowed onto the flowers.

One more image from this set. These were taken while inside the Butterfly House at Melbourne Zoo. Rikenon ‘Tomioka’ 60mm f2.8 1:1 Macro. I hadn't visited here for more than 10 years. Actually, not totally true - I visited the Butterfly House during winter (about 6 months ago). The environment is kept hot and humid, and my cold camera and lens immediately fogged up. So quickly exited.

I shot the winter butterfly bush yesterday and the butterfly two summers ago... all done through the wonders of photoshop. :) Although the flowers are, shall I say... hibernating, I still thought they were pretty. The bokeh was real in this shot, but the bottom right corner was plain, so I added Sue's Glorious Nature Art texture, Elements Dark(bw) to add bokeh in there. Also added my paint by numbers texture and two florabella actions, Vintage Haze(no haze) and Vintage Summer.

Grasshopper Sparrows have a distinct flight and often flutter on landing. They hold their little tails down as well. Flight styles of sparrows are quite distinct.

Isn't this gold butterfly a beauty?? It went so well with the color of the indian blanket flowers. Not sure what kind of butterfly it is, if anyone knows please identify for me!! Thanks and happy Monday!!
