Such a nice comfy cabin.... wait who's flying this thing?! Oh right, the autopilot. No worries. I will just pour myself a glass of champagne
Back to manual for the approach & landing since I will be doing this VFR after breaking out beneath the clouds and getting eyes on the field
A rough 2.4G landing as I stalled out - I was able to reverse thrust and taxi off the middle of the runway so could have made a faster approach for a smoother touchdown
Short final and I'm still holding slope but my AoA indicator is getting pretty high and my speed dropping pretty fast
Looking down the Hudson River past the Tappan Zee bridge towards Manhattan - too distant and cloud enshrouded to see tho
Wait is this still the highway? It's actually a lot harder to follow now that it is surrounded by scenery and not just a bold and isolated line on the ground!
We finally gave up on the Optica for Andrew and he chose to follow me in the Icon A7. We still had issues - I couldn't see him but he could see me. Off we go at last for the park
Well, crap I thought this was the active cause the windsock down at the other end was blowing in the opposite direction... oh well winds are light anyways let's go already
Andrew's still troubleshooting so I decide to see if I can still land this thing okay. Passing over the town of West Yellowstone - no one clears roads down there they all have trucks and 4x4s anyways right?
On shore final, Andrew breaks off to go around now that he has a better idea where to land after following me in
Formed up and cruising along as we pass over Lake Geneva, glad to see the bad weather is still staying away
Same time as last photo, looking back towards the east. Storms are getting closer but still to the north
Coming up on a bit of weather but nothing serious as we approach the Wisconsin River (not visible along the horizon)
Pretty soupy in this area but thankfully enough visibility remains for safe flying. Head on a swivel!
Starting to climb up to 4,500' in an attempt to get over the clouds up ahead, which look to be right over the area where our destination airfield is, of course
Passing over the Wisconsin River the cloud bank turns out to not extend into a complete overcast and there is a hole ahead we can descend back down through to look for the airport
Caught up with Andrew on descent down from 2,500' in order to pass under the approach corridor to Erie airport
Sticking to the river to stay clear of some obstructions. Airport is in sight, you can see Andrew's lights as he makes straight in
