Looking out east towards the Bolivian jungles

High and dry turns to low and lush

Yes the winds are ~10kts less but the air is thicker and I'm not going as fast as I was at FL305 and I'm burning more fuel. D'oh

You can barely make out traces of civilization on the parched landscape

Trying to cut the corner of my flight plan and get on track for ALC->JUL but the Flight Director has decided to intercept the course on the back end to fly through ALC towards JUL rather than just intercept at the nearest point ahead of ALC

I haven't been able to break 300kts ground speed this entire time down at FL245 so it's back up to FL305

I have the MFD display set to allow me to tell the Flight Director to proceed to the next waypoint since I wasn't sure if it would automatically come off the direct-to command and continue the plan. It did tho. I'm managing a similar pace to FL305 and FL245 keeps me just above controlled airspace so I decide to remain at this level for now still

I finally decide it's time to reduce power to 75% in order ot keep my destination within range - too little too late? I did have some IRL time constraints to deal with tho

Looking down along one of several deep-cut valleys that lead off the plateau down to the Pacific coast

Getting back on plan as I was using a heading hold to fly out over the Lines

I realize there's no good reason to fly over that VOR waypoint when I can just head straight for the airport from here

HIghlands eroded down to lowlands

Looking out at the Pacific on the Chilean coast, so many fields irrigated by the water running off the mountains to San Clemente

Some glaciers and past glacial striation at Cordillera Huayhuash

The many peaks of the Cordillera Blanca sub-range

Really had some narrow gaps here and there. The thrills!

Things opened up briefly before closing in again

The yellow range line is closing in fast on my map but the airport is so close - just around the bend! I can make it!

After restarting the flight for the second time where I began my approach through the valley with a bit more fuel I managed to make it in sight of the runway

Going long - but I'm finally comfortable in knowing how well this aircraft can stop

Full reverse thrust but no brakes and I'm coming down to taxi speed with plenty of room. Phew!

Taxiing back towards the terminal and what little parking is available

The land running down towards the Pacific coast

The neighboring islands of Taha'a and Taputapuapea

No issues during climb, leveled off and plenty of range despite a bit of headwind

Coming ashore, looking out east towards Mt Baker

Clear skies following this line of clouds as I approach Seattle

Out over the water, cruising south along the shore, with coastal bluffs overlooking the beaches

The view of the coast from the cockpit

Large swaths of dunes extending inland

Ledge Point looking back towards Lancelin

Ship traffic out of Perth. Getting closer

Checking my gyro, which is indeed in need of calibration, as I'll be needed to hold course soon

Getting ready to hit the Swan River and follow it past Perth downtown

Headed back for the sea, but not to continue down the coast

No need to bother with ATC anymore for the time being

Rottnest Island would have made a good stopover but I have enough fuel to get further south

Passing the airfield on Rottnest Island

Over Salmon Bay looking at the Wadjemup Lighthouse

Just under the end of my right wing is the Bathurst Lighthouse
