Approaching the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge with mountains of Shikoku visible on the horizon

Running out my downwind leg to give me room to setup for final approach

Perfect weather over Stuart Airpark as I ready for departure

Climbing hard for 3,500', looking out towards the Olympic Mountains

A last look back at the San Juan Islands

Cruising over the Nooksack River, heavy with sediment washed down from the mountains. Also note just in front of my nose the small private airfield of Westwind

All is quiet at Pitt Meadows Regional Airport

Can see past the Port Mann Bridge to the Pacific Ocean as I begin to descend

There wasn't a visible seawall for the marina entrance so I almost ran aground

Managed to shut down and float almost perfectly to the dock only to realize as I drifted closer this is not where I should have docked

Nearing top of descent over Lake Kojweri, which is also attached to Lake Kyoga and Lake Kwania

Recognizing the shoreline of Port Lincoln, the city preceding my destination. Close now!

Coming off AP to bring the aircraft around to setup for downwind leg

Too low?? Yea okay I'll be the judge of that. Crap my Yaw Damper is still on

Trying to line up with Sandane and it looks like a cliff is in my way. How dare it

Taxiing towards the end of the runway at Moose Creek USFS, wondering if we will be able to make it out of the mountains without crashing into them

Had time to get back on track - or tack rather, since I have a hefty 17kt crosswind coming in from the left

Heading for the active runway

Overshot the hold short just a teeeny bit using beta thrust to come to a stop rather than my brakes. Whoops

Right after leveling off I decided to continue to climb because I was right at the level of the clouds up ahead. Dammit

Climbing to initial cruise altitude of just 7,500' because I want to keep the sun low on the horizon

Air gettin pretty thin up here

Decided during the climb to hold back to 15,500' until I get closer and have a better idea of how tall those clouds are

Climbing above the clouds with Utqiagvik receding in the distance and the sun climbing higher

Should be able to just sneak around those clouds and stay on course

Still worried about cloud clearance I decided again to bump it the rest of the way up to service ceiling

Clearing through and around the clouds - aw crap the hell is that out there?!

Still up at 17,500' and looking to hold the course and squeeze between those cloud layers and bypass that rising column

Turning on the final leg towards my destination

Just look at the crap deciding to park itself right over the damn airfield

Final descent underway, passing the nearby rain column

Lined up for final. Super flat on my approach thanks to the low clouds

Coming off AP and setting up for final approach

Clearing the runway after the worst landing ever with what should have been the most basic of approaches

Shut down at Barter Island serving Kaktovik. This is the new airfield. In the distance you can see the radome tower that provided military long-range coverage and beyond those buildings is the old airfield along the coast

Plotting my route up to Barrow, pretty much a straight shot along the airways. Gunna sit back and let the AP do most of the work

Spring thaw in full effect in the tundra below

Outside air temp is below -5C so time to switch on the pitot/stall heaters. Also realized my transponder was set to 7000 so corrected that back to 1200

The confluence of the Tanana and Yukon Rivers

Southern stretch of the Ray Mountains to the east

Southern edge of the Brooks Range
