Getting my first look at Out Skerries air strip. Oh good, I can use the light house to help me line up my approach

Keeping the light house in sight for reference as I come around from base to lineup for final

Okay now, where is the strip again?

Looking good... steady.... steady....

Better line up this time as I crab inwards

Managed to recover and keep lined up but now I'm high over the runway

Should have made another go around but pffft. Managed to not pancake the gear on touchdown but it was a WHOMP for sure

Found plenty of room off the bottom of the runway. Whooo! What a flight!! Look forward to exploring the Shetlands in better conditions though

Positive rate as I climb out from Courchevel after an uncomplicated takeoff

Looking back towards Courchevel as I begin my ascent

One benefit to landing at large airports - high speed taxiways FTW

Taxiing out, looks like I won't be taking the SR22 up north anytime soon

Managed to keep the nose down to pick up speed, note you can still see my yoke as it's pushed forward so far

Eased up on the climb rate, now coasting up to cruise altitude at only 1500fpm

Catching sight of the Humber Bridge spanning the river of the same name outside the city of Hull

Back the next day after departing from a nearby airport to try again after spending several hours determining what was causing my trim to run away and screw up my approach

Right down on the numbers and perfect 3-point landing to roll up the hill

Parked after a perfect landing and easy stop at the top of the hill after proper application of reverse thrust, no braking needed. Vindication!

No bears spotted - climbing for some altitude to better see my destination airport

I realized the course I entered didn't actually align with the runway heading for some reason so I had to make a correction

Nice and easy touch down. Could use more flare - both literally and figuratively

Weathered a few storms while waiting almost a month for departure but finally ready to continue the journey

Taxiing out to the runway past the main tarmac

Taxiing down to the end of the runway - of course it's the one farthest away from the tarmac...

Cleaning up on departure from Vágar

Looking down at Tórshavn, capital city of the islands

Noticing that the autopilot has failed to make note of the changes to the flight plan and is still following the original track

All attempts to get the autopilot back on course failed so I just said screw it, deleted the flight plan and set a direct course for my destination. Then the AP got the hint

Still not enough! Heading up to max cruise altitude

Cause even at max eastern VFR altitude I'm still skimming through the cloud tops

Descending back into calmer winds as I approach the coast of Norway

Going feet dry over the Norwegian village of Vevang

Skimming under the clouds now instead of over them

Good to not be landing to the north...

ATC told me to make left base and I'm set to make right base and they cleared me to land. Okay

Should be some parking past the main terminal...

There we go! Ready to begin my tour of the Nordics and northern Europe in the DA62!

Fiddling with the active nav source to see if I can get the co-pilot display to show the VOR radial while my display shows the FMS bearing. All I managed to do was disconnect the AP from the FMS

A last look back at Greenland as I head back out over the ocean
