Heading out from Mackay Bar to continue our journey through the Idaho bush

Back up in the air, after catching up I try to perform a barrel roll over Andrew but end up going through him instead. Need more practice

Not always, but most of the time using the VFR map was just necessary to know when to look for these strips since following the contour of the river on the VFR charts to determine our position was just too difficult

Making my approach, being sure to mind the trees...

Enjoying the clear air and blue skies

Back under the clouds descending towards the next river valley

Andrew flew to the left to come about right while I flew right to come about left

Andrew's still having problems so making another up and down

Up in the Sawtooth Mountains, ~10,000' at Lake Imogene, readying for departure after a nice stay at a cabin on the lake

Took a branch of the river to the north to make a quick stop at Marble Creek

Waves on the lake show how windy it is as ominous overcast skies hang over Cleveland's Burke Lakefront airport

Taken off and turned about to the west, passing Cleveland as I perform a non-standard departure

Departing 89D and passing over the harbor. Off in the distance is the Perry Monument in the middle of South Bass Island, my next destination

Taking a gander at North Bass Island's airport, which I will be heading for in a little bit, but not yet

Looking towards my next destination, Rattlesnake Island

No games in progress at the moment, allowing the airspace to remain open to flights thankfully

Opting for the smaller runway, because I don't even need that much

Perry Monument and the Bass Islands silhouetted by the sunset as I get set to turn base leg for 89D

Ready to depart from 89D and head for South Bass Island

Slight crab into 3W2, with my buddy close behind also on final

This time we had enough separation that I was able to land and clear the runway with enough time to watch my friend come in for a landing

Back out on the tarmac at 3T7 with some receding storms off in the distance

After letting the short squall move past, we prepared to depart from the middle of the runway

The lightning was epic on this flight

Brilliant lightning on final approach looked awesome but did not help with visibility...

... the cloud tunnel lets us fly along the coast and actually see where we are going, which was a relief

Phew! Managed to land okay and taxiing back nice and slow to calm my jittery nerves. What a crazy flight!

Coming around from downwind to base, still pretty high

The Marcelo Fernan Bridge in the back and Serging Veloso OsmeƱa Jr. Bridge in the fore with the airport beyond

Getting ready to go at Tumby Bay on the coast of the Spencer Gulf

Turning about at the end of the runway to line up for departure

Leaving behind Tumby Bay as I continue my climb out over the Spencer Gulf

Leveling off at 7,500' and setting cruise power and mixture to ensure I have enough gas for this long-haul flight

Looking ahead across the Spencer Gulf to the Yorke Peninsula from 7,500'

Crossing the Yorke Peninsula towards the St Vincent Gulf

Skimming below the clouds at 3,500' as I approach Port Adelaide

Dodging around clouds on my way up to cruise altitude

Cloud coverage is not looking good up ahead. Can't risk losing sight of the ground
