Built in late 60s or early 70s and designed by the City Architect to replace slums in the area. Many of the city flats are orientated north/south to maximise sunlight and keep shadows to a minimum. They are made with reinforced concrete and have granite rubble cast into the concrete to minimise staining from rain.

At some point last night my RR Michelin got punctured by a 2.25" self tapping sheet metal screw. I removed the screw and plugged the hole with a tire repair kit. I have terrible luck with tires.

The only flat tire I saw in Tokyo--this bike was parked outside of a shop, seeming like some sort of ad for the store. It's quite a classic--no derailleur, and is that a leather seat? Great bike.
