#flash #ecafoto17

It is off-camera flash - obviously. I used my SB-700 to my right - and the way I held my camera vertically with the grip, I had the on-camera flash to my left filling in a little bit. I have both the flashes in Manual Mode, and tried to control the exposure and fill I needed. I chose this setup because the background at the other end of the "tunnel" was a curtain fairly well lit by the light coming through the windows. With the flash, light fell off very quickly behind him (inverse square) and darkened the end of the tunnel completely.

Was a pleasure to paint this for an old friend of mine as a commission. Based off a previous flash design , made custom to better suit Catlyn.

Using the CTR-301 as a stand for the 430 flash. You have to rotate the head backwards to compensate though, otherwise the whole thing just tips over.
And yes, it does say TSET instead of TEST on the trigger. That's what you get for buying cheap Chinese made hardware :)

Many times photographers (especially me!) think flash should only be used at night or indoors! But when I was trying to photograph this scene, the shadows in the resulting image were too dark while the sunlit areas where exposed well. That’s when I remembered about what is called ‘fill-in flash’ which is pretty much using the flash to expose shadows/dark areas in daylight photography. After using the flash the resulting image was much improved.
