I managed to get a few shots of Thomas learning to walk. This is the X100s shooting into a very backlit scene. Exp Comp was on +2. The AF worked much better than I was expecting and the hit rate was pretty impressive.

First Minister confirms plans to introduce standardised assessments for schools.
Scotland will seize the opportunity to be a world leader in assessing and driving forward educational progress for all children, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said today.
Launching a new National Improvement Framework for education, the First Minister outlined her ambition to eliminate the attainment gap between the least and most deprived children, setting out the action already being taken to address the gap through initiatives such as the £100 million Attainment Challenge Fund
Although not involved with organisation of the Potteries Rally, First Potteries always send a bus to the event. This year we asked for 60074 (V832GBF), significant as a "PMT" bus, being delivered new to FirstPMT in 1999. The delivery consisted of 3 x Scania/Wright, numbered 830-2.
60074 is seen leaving the rally at the end of the afternoon passing Turner Fleetline 10 which, following the PMT takeover of Turner, become 750.

Today marks my first birthday of Flickr use. I've really enjoyed the experience and the community is a great place to be. I feel that I have been inspired by many FOLs on this site so I'd like to thank everyone who's made my first year so fun.
This picture shows my up-to-date micro military fleet.
Designed to last,100s of years later, they still stand operational and wait for service.. things like this amaze me, I really wonder if things are made like this today.. I suspect not. Everything has a shelf life to keep the gears moving. This beast isnt the biggest swing bridge in the area, but I really like it, especially at night! That glowing light casting the light every which way lights up the details. My goal for the last shots was to get more details of the bridge, using a 150mm.
It was VERY tempting to try to get to it via the ice, however, I dont feel really comfortable on the ice until at least mid January. I wasnt the only one with that idea. I almost thought they were gonna go for it and I suspect I would have gone swimming shortly there-after chasing after a dare-devil explorer in a cloud of ducks...
such a beautiful night, cold, yet not too cold. The noises in the area; traffic, machinery and lets not forget those ducks and geese too lazy to migrate..
I accidentally had the camera on JPG Medium instead of RAW, that was a bummer.. I didnt shoot the shots over, although I think maybe I should have... I noticed right away the artifacts, I guess they will add to the patina, lol!
These shots as well as some film I have not posted will be part of a book I am working on, it was my original intention back in 2008 to put together a book of rail... I might as well finish it, right?

I went out to Wilderness Park the afternoon after our first big snowfall of the season. Except for the occasional animal tracks, the trails were still undisturbed.
The first hastings station was built by the s.e.r and was opened on feb 13th 1852, it was rebuilt in a neo-georgian style in 1931. The present building was built in 2004.

Arrival in Newcastle, on the way to Keele, afforded this shot of two variations of OmniCity livery plus a further 'new' Gemini on Stand 8.

Buttercups in all stages of growth opened two or three days ago in the Big Horn Mountains. The snow is rapidly melting and the creeks are unthawing.
Buttercups usually have five petals, but I find quite the variety even down to one. It is the only buttercup in Wyoming that has both the entire and divided leaves on the same plant. It has an acrid juice that can blister the skin and mucous membranes. Keep away from children! Interestingly, the juice is shown to work against a variety of bacteria in clinical trials.
