Walked through a Lake City alley on our way to last Sunday's Beers and Camera get-together at the Elliot Bay Public House. I had just picked up a new Tamron 35mm f:2.8 for the full frame Sony A7 and these were some the first images I made that day.
it's f.u.p.o.m. time, and I took advantage of peter attending by asking him some tips and tricks about flagstone folding. he had just tried this pattern and so we used it as an example.
completing the ring around the first hexagon was tough enough as it is. flagstones are weird...
I tried to extend the pattern by listening to what the paper told me to do.
I tried for some 2 hours or so.
I didn't understand the paper.
I got quite thoroughly frustrated.
back at home before going to bed I tried again. and bit by bit it really started to work.
I was really proud of myself. all the more so on the next day when peter told me that he had convinced himself that it couldn't be done. ha!
I just noticed, though, that I have probably cheated. not on purpose. solely by lack of knowledge. I am sorry!

On my second day at China Camp, I arrived just before noon, and stayed for about 2 hours. I would have stayed longer, however, the rain starting to multiply very quickly. It was the first rain of the season, and it was making a very good impression.
I had a good system down, in where I would balance between my umbrella, the camera, and shutter cable just in time, where there would be no chance (sometimes) of rain hitting the lens.
I shot the entire day with a red filter on the 50mm, and the yellow on the 28.
One of the last shoots of the day, the rain was pounding down, and visibility was almost nothing. I set up the shot anyway.
I was on my last roll, and last few shots. The back of my pants were soaked. My socks were squishing around in my shoes that were not intended for serious weather.
I was just getting comfortable.
I rolled out the last 4 shots on the reel of this view on my way back. Everything was wet, so I had to wing it on focus. I could hardly see in the viewfinder. I kept the yellow filter on, and exposed for the best.

This is my vision of the event in 1962 in Russia (as described in the book "Blind Man's Bluff: The Untold Story of American Submarine Espionage"), which shows first launch of a ballistic missile from nuclear submarine (named K-3). In fact, neither K-3 (who was only a hunting ship) or no other Russian nuclear submarine at this time was not able to launch missile due to technical problems on these ships. In order not to upset the First Secretary (Nikita Khrushchev), who watched the show, K-3 only served as a screen, and behind it emerged the older diesel powered Golf class submarine (K-142), who fired a rocket.

February 2013. Nigerian carrier First Nation (using Bellview AOC) commenced services with three former Gulf Air A320's in 2011. Unfortunately, operations were suspended in June 2012, their aircraft were ferried to Istanbul. N409AG is seen here, it was the former 5N-FNA whilst in Nigeria. The other two A320's are stored at Southend. First Nation has recommenced (early 2013) with two A319's.
N409AG departed to Woendsdrecht in the Netherlands on April 5th 2013, for Cosmo Airlines of Spain, not taken up, to LY-VER in July 2013.
