I could feel it coming but was sad when it broke. My shoes always break in the same place, on the same shoe; I know it's because of my unsteady gate, but there's nothing I can do about that, and to be fair these don't owe me a penny.
These are Gluv and they have leather uppers and lining (the edges you can see where they are frayed are synthetic and the sole, but they don't touch my skin so that was fine).
I think I still have another pair of these, I stocked up. Better get rummaging through my stash!!! :)
...at least for today.
It was colder than it should be today, but at least it wasn't raining! I took advantage of this good weather to go wander in the woods; I hadn't been there for two weeks, and it felt fantastic.
Not sure what took so long, but I finally got myself a box to organize my thread. Feels nice and tidy!
Stock painted by sealing with varnish cut with white-spirit and then stained with burnt-umber oil paint cut very heavily with white spirit and with a clear wax on top
Finally got both birds in the UIC nest during an exchange. The male is on the eggs and the female is coming in to take over.

I'm finally seeing these little dragonfly cousins in greater numbers this year. I'm always happy to see them and it's fun to try to get shots of them since they're so small and so interesting to look at.

Eight trips to Vegas and after a couple of abortive trips - too hot, too far, too hungover - the Welcome to Las Vegas sign was finally visited. It wasn't that far from Mandalay Bay and it wasn't really worth the effort, but its another thing ticked off the Vegas 'must do' list.
After days of waiting, the first thunderstorms of the summer arrive. Unfortunately they missed us here in Julian, but they were pretty to look at.
Crews finally remove and secure the body of a construction worker killed on Clayson Rd when a cement wall collapsed. The incident which took place around 11:30AM was hampered by a damaged watermain delaying the body removal until 1AM the next day.

My Gardenia Finally Bloomed !
It had been dropping buds all summer, and finally I got a bloom ! It smells soooooooo good !

i've been meaning to replant hims into a bigger pot for months now. i finally found one that would be big enough to bother, yet still fit in the cute little planter i got for him.
and i seem to have finally quenched his thirst. i've over watered so many plants, i'd been accidentally under watering this one. poor guy. but he finally looks happy and now he can grow for a while before i'll need to repot him again!
What was only supposed to be an hour turned into almost 3 hours, but they finally get underway towards Eola Yard
It's been a long week, and I'm unbelievably glad it's Friday. I even got to end my day by having dinner with some fabulous ladies*. Hopefully the rest of the weekend will be just as good.
