Spring finally arrived here in Rochester, I refer to "true spring" where the out the window weather matches those other and fix date Springs.
These short early harbingers of Spring are finally above ground and proclaim the arrival of this true spring.

Work finally completed on additional frac sand silos in te CSX Benwood Yard. Winter working conditions made for a extended building process.
After waiting all day for some good light, and after being disappointed the whole day...we finally got some luck.
What looks like a nice patch of forest is just a few hectares wide, between a large road and the newly-installed power line connecting a new Chinese dam.
Camilla is not easy to get to try new things. But when we showed her how shallow the water was, she tried it. Big succes. She really had a great tiime. We could walk out about a 100 meters before the depth increased. Great for small kids.
Finally got some wonderful snow! I don't think I need to say anything more! I am happy! It actually looks like January!
After a long couple days being couped up, Riley finally gets to head to the beach to blow off some steam...

Finally finished the bag I started at Gwen's on Saturday. It's bigger than my other, and will take some getting used to. I like it, tho. Thrifted the middle flower fabric. My thrift addiction is coming back. Trying to get control over it. In other news, I'm sick again. So that's fun!
The band is in place and almost ready to go, as soon as the parade starts moving. Mr. Stephens wanted to be sure that he got everyone in these photos and that's why he took them from two different sides.
In the back we see Tanya, who finally showed up. Glad you could make it, Tanya! We almost had to reshuffle the entire clarinet lineup and *I* was next in line to lead the row, which I really didn't want to do, so, thanks!

As I get older, I do realize I miss Hawaii more - there's something very unique about this place that I can't find anywhere else. And yes - food is definitely part of that equation. :)
when i got up this morning, the sun was out. the first time properly, in almost three weeks. i'm feeling so much better for it.

Finally!! I place to put all my hard drives! This is the "back" view.
The nursery is now complete. I'm really happy with the way it has turned out. The colours are bright but soothing, the crib and change table fit perfectly. Also put together the stroller and car seat tonight.
How can you not love this baby? She was finally able to find a spot in the living room that made her feel at home.
Ah, finally.
One of the biggest things I sorely miss here are woods. Moist, lush, deciduous (learned a new word today!) woods. With moss and ferns and mushrooms. There's none in this part of The Netherlands. Yes, you heard me, none. The closest to it are the sandy, coniferous (learned two new words today!) forest near the sea. They're beautiful in their own right, but not great if you're looking for that quintessential autumn feel. So I was really pleased when I found a mushroom. Out of a total of two... in the only tiny moist mossy patch we came across in the 1,5 hrs we were there - but hey, all the more grateful.

Finally breaching the minefield that blocked the Ginowan-Shuri road, American tanks begin to range around the south end of the village. Two are blown up on hidden minefields and one of the Zippos is knocked out by Japanese close range artillery fire.
...which is good since I move in in two days! After two very frustrating weeks of bad communication, broken promises and waiting the kitchen guys finally got around to the last finishing touches. Or at least I hope so....
