snuggled up immediately after I finished binding. At some point, I have to pry it out of his hands and wash it... :)
Il Corno del Gran Sasso ha sempre un impatto visivo notevole quando ci si avvicina, e sono solo quasi 3mila metri! 08/12 Campo Imperatore
Finally getting around to editing pics I took at Plainfield Pond in Plainfield, MA on June 2, 2025 of a substorm that created a camera-visible (and very faint naked eye) display of the northern lights.
These images were taken between 11:17pm - 11:52pm 6-2-25 with the peak between 11:20 - 11:30pm. There was a second, more powerful, substorm about 2 hours later but I was in bed by then!
In the last few months I have been reading a lot about space weather and how to see the Northern Lights in Western MA. This was a successful night and the first time I have seen pillars. Note the blue "tips" above the magenta / purple. I have read this blue is a rare occurrence.
It's been done almost a month, but I finally got FO shots of this one. I'm not sure it's the most flattering shape on me, but I'm reasonably happy with it.

Finally got to the monastery in Ko Phangan today. Started in New Orleans from superbowl weekend to Bangkok (25 hrs) then 9 hour train ride, then a 1 hour truck ride to take us to the pier to catch a 3 hour ride to the island on a Catamaran (type of boat) the last. The last pic is the room im staying in basically a floor w/ a small mat & a mosquito net . after learning a little more im finally acknowledging that these next 10 days will truly be intense. Heard lot of stories of people having to drop out early :0 ready for the challenge baby. The first day of the retreat begins tomorrow. I will be handing in my phone , comp , etc at that time.
Finally found the third Castlemilk Redwood - basically couldn't see the wood for the trees before now!
I've been trying to catch some of these sitting still for several years now and haven't had a lot of luck unless it was too dark to get a decent macro. Now I know the secret, all you have to do is get a couple of them to like each other, a LOT. Once that happens it's so awkward for them to fly they just won't hardly move.
