I'm glad these are not any bigger than they are. I'd be afraid to walk around the yard. :-)

Taken at Newtown, Sydney. Thanks for viewing, hope you like it.

My first thought was that this grand tree had the same stance as magicians when they're doing magic and saying "Hocus Pocus"

Happy TREE-mendous Tuesday

Ta Prohm temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built in Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th centuries and originally called Rajavihara. It was founded by the Khmer King Jayavarman VII as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Ta Prohm has been left in much the same condition in which it was found: the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings.

The fig tree in a garden in the upper car park. They've gone to town this year to protect the figs from the birds!

This is an environment I love and have been exploring. And as a result I have taken every scientist I know that would come into such terrain so that together we could identify, record and explain what was there: plants, fauna, geology, landforms, scenery aesthetics and fire history. It has been a fascinating journey, and we have succeeded in advocating for this landscape to transition from forestry to national park protected area! It is an exciting story.

As Kingaham Creek descends from the plateau formed at the junction of the Yabba and Jimna Ranges, it courses over a variety of geologies including Kingaham granite, Amamoor beds of metamorphic rocks, Gallangowan granodiorite, and here it begins it descent over greenstone. Bonsai Falls and Broken Femur Falls are sculpted in greenstone but then a basaltic dyke crosses the gorge creating a barrier with a deep pool eroded behind it and Blue Dyke Falls plunging over the dyke.

Photographed are 3 Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service staff who were following through on my discovery of a rock wallaby population in this vicinity. Camera traps were set up, rock wallabies and other species recorded, and DNA identification is now to be undertaken to identify the species or if in fact they may be a hybrid of 2 possible spp.

Wandering through the Hundred Acres Reserve one comes across some deep shadow with only a gleam of light in the bright morning. Another beautiful Fig Tree root to sit by and watch the birds.

This westbound (Stockton-bound) train is headed by GE 70 Tonner 742, and is captured again a few blocks north of Aurora siding crossing West Granger Avenue where a derelict house sat next to the tracks along with a very old fig tree.

I was amazed to see a fig in December - it's the P-G climate again.

My Mum was very proud of a ripe fig in her garden and asked me to come round and take a photo. Armed with my camera, we went to visit and I asked which one she wanted a picture of. My Dad was looking pretty sorry for himself.

"Ah well" she said, " I showed the ripe fig to your Father and he said "Oh yes, that's ready" and duly pulled it off the tree!

So here we have a pic of the ones that were still left, ready for picking soon!

A Sanskrit inscription on stone, still in place, give details of the temple. Ta Prohm 3,140 villages. It took 79,365 people to maintain the temple including 18 great priests, 2,740 officials, 2,202 assistants and 615 dancers. Among the property belonging to the temple was a set of golden dishes weighing more than 500 kilograms, 35 diamonds, 40,620 pearls, 4,540 precious stones, 876 veils from China, 512 silk beds and 523 parasols. Even considering that these numbers were probably exaggerated to glorify the king, Ta Prohm must have been an important and impressive monument.

Abandoned temples of Angkor were left to the jungle to reclaim... or so the story goes; however, a new study suggests that Angkor Wat was never actually abandoned (after its sacking by the Thai Kingdom of Ayutthaya) at all. According to archaeologist Asst. Prof. Alison Carter, "It [Angkor Wat] seems to have undergone transformations at the same time that the broader Angkorian society was also reorganizing. Significantly, though, Angkor Wat was never abandoned. What can be abandoned is the tired cliche of foreign explorers “discovering” lost cities in the jungle."

Walking throught the apulian countryside is usual to find secular fig trees in the middle of wheat fields kissed by sun.
