Photo taken in an Illawarra Flame Tree at Figtree Pocket, Brisbane, Queensland. A little bit of colour for Christmas.

My Mum was very proud of a ripe fig in her garden and asked me to come round and take a photo. Armed with my camera, we went to visit and I asked which one she wanted a picture of. My Dad was looking pretty sorry for himself.

"Ah well" she said, " I showed the ripe fig to your Father and he said "Oh yes, that's ready" and duly pulled it off the tree!

So here we have a pic of the ones that were still left, ready for picking soon!

In ancient times, where Protaras is now located, stood the old city-state of Leukolla. The city possessed a small safe harbour where the Athenian Demetrius Poliorketes sought refuge in the year 306 BC, lying in wait for Ptolemeos, one of the successors of Alexander the Great.

A Sanskrit inscription on stone, still in place, give details of the temple. Ta Prohm 3,140 villages. It took 79,365 people to maintain the temple including 18 great priests, 2,740 officials, 2,202 assistants and 615 dancers. Among the property belonging to the temple was a set of golden dishes weighing more than 500 kilograms, 35 diamonds, 40,620 pearls, 4,540 precious stones, 876 veils from China, 512 silk beds and 523 parasols. Even considering that these numbers were probably exaggerated to glorify the king, Ta Prohm must have been an important and impressive monument.

Abandoned temples of Angkor were left to the jungle to reclaim... or so the story goes; however, a new study suggests that Angkor Wat was never actually abandoned (after its sacking by the Thai Kingdom of Ayutthaya) at all. According to archaeologist Asst. Prof. Alison Carter, "It [Angkor Wat] seems to have undergone transformations at the same time that the broader Angkorian society was also reorganizing. Significantly, though, Angkor Wat was never abandoned. What can be abandoned is the tired cliche of foreign explorers “discovering” lost cities in the jungle."

I was out and about in the forest yesterday with the feeling that something was watching me but I could not figure it out as all I could see was an old fig tree which I captured with my phone.

It must have just been the low mist on the forest floor that spooked me. HSS

Whenever I visit this place, I feel as though I’ve been transported to another time, and wanted the image to reflect that feeling.

Just like many other Christian brothers and sisters, I eagerly long for the second coming of the Lord Jesus . We abide by the following passage from the Bible: “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:17). For this reason, we foolishly look up to the skies longing for the day that Jesus will return and take us up into the clouds so that we can be with the Lord. However, after so many years have passed, the four blood moons have already appeared; earthquakes, famines, plagues and war and all sorts of other disasters are becoming more and more intense. The prophecies of the Lord’s second coming have basically been fulfilled. However, we still have not seen one Christian raptured into heaven. I cannot help but think, “Why does the Lord not come to receive us? The Lord is trustworthy. The Lord promised that He would take us into the heavenly kingdom in the last days. The Lord’s promise certainly will be accomplished and fulfilled. I do not doubt this at all. Yet, how come up until now, we still have not been raptured by the Lord into heaven? Could it be that there are some problems with our longing?”
