I have always loved cattails since I was little, there was just something magical about them - from their unique look to their colorful name.

So seeing this group of cattails, well past their prime still managed to grab my attention.

This one was taken up Maunawili Falls with Amy. It was rainy most of the day, but we were still able to sneak a few scenes in. I used my wide angle on this, and had to tighten up the aperture to f/22 so I could get a long exposure. I knew my usual ND #110 filter would be way too dark, plus there was no DOF to capture in this.

Not sure if you noticed, but I'm slowly falling out of love with square format. Just thought I'd put it out there ;) It's a printing nightmare...from my experience, and framing the subject seems a little awkward sometimes. This is just my experience...so far...

Plus, I'm going to be posting a blog soon about trends in images, and to shatter the trends and find originality....still gathering notes :)

Clouds.

I tried some new techniques and couldn't be more thrilled, I love how this project is pushing me to create. I figured the challenge wanted a literal photo of clouds but I want to bend the rules and turn it up a notch. Model is my gorgeous and patient sister, Grace.

This painting was based on a drawing that I made of my father, Merrill Grubbs, shortly before he died.

Do not fade away your memories. Go back to reminiscences of your younger days and upload with interesting photos and write ups.

There are certain memories of mine that I have thought about so much, letting them replay in my head, that they have become faded. I liken it to a pillow that has been repeatedly fluffed: the imprint of my head once resting on it is now gone since I've beaten it so much. Memories fade, the colors lose their shine in my mind, features on faces soften away, and light shines less. I wish it wasn't this way. I hold those memories close to heart, trying desperately to remember, but it never seems to work.

This was very faded already but I have de saturated it a little as well. Just to make it seem even more forlorn.

The impression of Recoleta is one of faded glory… Buenos Aires was rebuilt in the early 20th century to look a bit like Paris, Madrid and Rome. Part of its appeal and romance is due to its resembling a faded, time-worn version of all these, and a stroll round Recoleta feels far more Old World than anything on offer in European cities of the twenty first century. The shady plazas, huge parks, corner cafés and newspaper kiosks provide all you need for a pleasant metropolitan experience. The picture summarizes the above whilst also demonstrating Argentina’s passion for soccer…- Buenos Aires, Argentina
