This was taken a few months ago on a trip to one of my favourite mid mountains streams. Rhys and I walked down the stream for about 3 hours and found some magical little places on the way.

Fading sign painted on the side of a building in downtown Anniston, Alabama

These military flags are, I believe, commemorative regimental flags. The places where the regiment had served have been embroidered onto the flags.

Visible on the first flag (from the Wiltshire Regiment) are many place names, including Mont Pincon and Anzio (World War Two battle sites), and Somme (World War One).

A chrysanthemum that has faded but was still intact and pretty in its faded state.

Excess generally causes reaction, and produces a change in the opposite direction, whether it be in the seasons, or in individuals, or in governments.

Standard cab GEs are fading fast on America's class 1's but NS and CN seem to be the only hope for hunting one on a mainline.

Today I got lucky as 20N crawls west through CP 286 after setting off the conductor. Gaining quickly on the short rack train was 21Z with the NS 8102 third out.

Hectic Amsterdam: alongside the departmentstore of 'De Bijenkorf' we look towards de 'Beurs van Berlage' (which is a UNESCO monument) and the central railway station which is in the distance. A tram is waiting for the pedestrians to clear the crossing. To the right but no visible is the 'Dam.'

So far away, away, fading distant lights

Leaving us all behind, lost in a changing world

And you know that these are the days of our lives...

Long day, long week... I will catch up over the weekend. Thanks for having a look. :-)

already the poppies are starting to fade..they were fun while they lasted

Sometimes the imperfections brought on by experience has a unique beauty all of it's own.

A rainy day project using natural light.

Wednesday, 22 January 2020: temperature at 10:15 am is 0C (windchill -2C). Supposed to get up to 5C later. As you can imagine, everyone is enjoying the very welcome milder weather, after the recent deep freeze that dropped to windchill -42C at its coldest. Sunrise is at 8:26 am, and sunset is at 5:09 pm. My thoughts are with all the people in Newfoundland, who are trying to deal with such a massive snowfall.

Yesterday, 21 January 2020, I was finally able to get out of the house for an afternoon. A list of errands the previous day had kept me in the city. Yesterday's weather was just under 0C, so it was pleasant, though I found the harsh sunlight really hard on the eyes. Though I was hoping I might come across a Snowy Owl, a few old barns and scenery kept me happy. It just felt good to be able to get out somewhere. A couple of times, I had a brief sinking feeling, hoping that my car wasn't stuck in the snow.

Sometimes, especially in May and June, the golden state's sunset is more of a quiet fade

taken at Lethbridge Alberta on the edge of the coulee looking out to the westside. He looked deep in thought....to add to the "haze" was smoke from forest fires in BC. Not sure if there is some sort of esoteric thing going on with the wheels of time....the wheels of his cart and the wheel installation from the museum to the right but i liked it in the pic so didn't crop it out?

I like the visitor and the bizarre form.

Testing out my newly acquired Wollensak Velostigmat Series III wide angle 159mm f/9.5 (equivalent to about 20 mm on a full frame digital camera). Based on the serial number, the lens was made around 1924. Seems to have the original Betax number 3 shutter which amazingly still works pretty well.

The lens is uncoated, so it produces a lot of flare and is very low contrast as seen here. The image on the ground-glass is very dim and nearly impossible to focus as the minimum aperture is only f/9.5 . When looking through the ground-glass the only thing visible was the corner of the building in direct sunlight. Everything else was pretty much dark, so I had to guess on the composition.

I'm going to have to take a few more shots in different lighting situations to see if I got the $200 worth I paid for it.

Technical details:

Camera: VDS 8x10 with 5x7 reducing back

Lens: Wollensak Velostigmat Series III 159mm f/9.5

Film: Arista EDU Ultra 400 at EI 200

Development: Rodinal 1+50 for 11 minutes

The best sunset of my stay in Monreith. It was already fading when I got here, and two minutes later the redness had just about disappeared, so no reflections of the light on rippled sand.
