One of the ex-MARC GP40WH-2s was leaving North Station on a hazy afternoon in 2011. The aging EMDs stuck out like a sore thumb with their silver flanks and red noses, but they fit right in among the MBTA fleet in one regard - they were all old, faded, and well-worn.
Like the F40PHs they served alongside, all have since been put out to pasture and shipped out of Boston. I'm not sure where these ended up.

One of my first photos with my new (secondhand) 1DX. There hasn't been much around for photos lately as the heat has burnt off most of the flowers and it has been too hot to wander around for photos. Also, I haven't been on Flickr much as I have been spending spending time with my brother and sister in law as they came down to surprise me for my birthday.
Continuing on from Everything's Gone Green this is the second in the series of colourful walls with doors around Dublin and that I named to celebrate early eighties music culture.

BNSF 1832, still sporting BN paint, races through Brookston, MN with the Superior - Grand Rapids turn. BN searchlights still guard the siding tracks here but, after Carlton's replacements showed up very recently, time will tell for how long.
Took a walk through the small arboretum at the park and noticed some of the faded hydrangeas still in tack but faded and aglow in the morning sun. Thought they still possessed beauty worth a quick photo. Taken same morning as the Minion photos. :)
Soo Line GP39-2 4598 was sunning itself at the east end of Bensenville Yard. The once-stunning Candy Apple Red paint has been out in the Midwestern sun for quite a while and is rapidly fading.
I have always loved cattails since I was little, there was just something magical about them - from their unique look to their colorful name.
So seeing this group of cattails, well past their prime still managed to grab my attention.

We live in a Faded World, where Art is only perceived, and Knowledge is used to improve this perception. But Art often conceals its meanings, and Knowledge is not able to reveal them.
