This evening boarding scene captures the quiet drama of travel at golden hour. Shot at 24mm, the wide angle places the aircraft wing and engine in the foreground, anchoring the frame with polished metal and industrial form, while the line of passengers ascending the steps creates a strong diagonal rhythm across the image. The low sun, partially veiled by broken cloud, floods the sky with warm amber and gold tones, contrasting beautifully with the cool silvers and blues of the aircraft fuselage.
Reflections ripple across the wing and engine nacelle, mirroring the sky and reinforcing the sense of transition and movement. The silhouetted figures, caught mid-journey, add scale and a human narrative without dominating the scene, turning a routine boarding moment into something cinematic and contemplative. The overall mood is calm, anticipatory, and reflective, perfectly suited to the end of a travel day and the promise of departure to Santorini.
It's afterhours in the Alleghany Highlands of the Virginias on a cold December evening. Strong winds whip over the backbones of the ridges high above Moss Run, Virginia. The CSX Alleghany Subdivision is active with a handful of trains running east and west since noon. An eastbound loaded coal train bound for the docks of Newport News, Virginia rolls swiftly downhill towards Clifton Forge. The eastbound was held up at White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, awaiting the arrival of a pair of empties to come west. After tackling the grade, CSX 394 West topped the summit inside of Alleghany Tunnel before snaking through rugged terrain before breaking back into civilization just past OX Cabin, here at Moss Run.
Though less dramatic in colouring than the males, the females have a very interesting appearance, and in the snow and dim light, almost made better options for photography.

Evening mood over Lake Thun. The clouds were only briefly illuminated by the setting sun and glowed in pink colours. I had just enough time to take this pano and it was already over again. Although, afterwards a young ibex came by and also enjoyed the view...

Abendstimmung über dem Thunersee. Nur ganz kurz wurden die Wolken von der untergehenden Sonne beschienen und leuchteten in rosa Farben. Ich hatte gerade genug Zeit, dieses Pano zu machen und schon war es wieder vorbei. Obwohl, danach kam noch ein junger Steinbock vorbei und genoss ebenfalls die Aussicht…
