Aunt Lil...1920's

"From the daring decade of the 1920s--think glittering nightlife, flapper fashion, the heady perfume of luxury...came the fragrance Soir de Paris, of Evening in Paris, as we knew it here. By the 1950's it was touted as the fragrance more women wear than any other in the world and by 1969 it had disappeared." Vermont Country Store Website.

Krakow - first evening of drinking and eating

Description: Newspaper clipping from the Evening Star, Washington D. C. on November 3, 1936. Headline: Helen Keller Attends Rites for Teacher- Bishop Eulogizes Mrs. Anne S. Macy- Ashes of Teacher of Helen Keller Are Enshrined at Cathedral. Large photograph of Helen Keller, Polly Thomson and Bishop Freeman.

Full text: The ashes of Mrs. Anne Sullivan Macy, celebrated teacher of Helen Keller, were enshrined at Washington Cathedral yesterday afternoon. A brief but deeply impressive service of committal was conducted in the Chapel of St. Joseph of Arimathea, with Right Rev. James E. Freeman, Bishop of Washington, officiating.

Miss Keller herself brought the remains of her guide and friend to the Capital. During the ceremony she sat with bowed head in the first row of chairs in the chapel while her secretary, Miss Polly Thompson, "translated" to her the words spoken and the hymns sung in the service. Her flowers - clusters of Autumn blossoms and golden forest leaves - were banked around the urn.

"The Cathedral in the Nation's Capital," Bishop Freeman declared in his eulogy, "honors itself in giving sepulture to Mrs. Macy. Among the great teachers of all time she occupies a commanding and conspicuous place."

Still in the mood for green!

trevor, evening floater at rincon.

...I think that may actually be a tick in the middle of the flower...I should have squished him. Speaking of creepy bugs, there was a ginormous spider in my backpack on top of my calculator...it scared the crud out of me before my exam on Monday, but one of the guys in my class valiantly came to my rescue and killed it with his A&M flip flop.

A stormy evening at Clifford Pier in Singapore. There were many flashes of lightning during that evening and this provided additional beautiful backdrop onto the Singapore night skyline.

That new toy really wore me out, I'd better wash up before I fall asleep...

The feathers sure smells good, I'm keeping it near by, just in case... :)

Psalm 42:7

New King James Version (NKJV)

7 Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls;

All Your waves and billows have gone over me. Wind and Wave Obey Jesus Matthew 8 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”

26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

"Those evening bells! Those evening bells!

How many a tale their music tells

Of youth, and home and that sweet time,

When last I heard their soothing chime.

Those joyous hours are past away,

And many a heart that then was gay

Within the tomb now darkly dwells

And hears no more these evening bells.

And so 'twill be when I am gone;

That tuneful peal will still ring on

While other bards will walk these dells,

And sing your praise, sweet evening bells!"

Evening Bell (Вечерний звон) is a popular Russian song written in 1828 by Ivan Kozlov and Alexander Alyabyev.

I love a beautiful sunset, they are my favorite part of the day. I love sunset what ever part of the country I am in, but I have to say sunsets over the Rocky Mountains are second to none. Sorry I haven't been around much, busy time of year for me. I will catch up soon.

Evening shots of cities around the globe are magical. Tbilisi however has a different appeal: Most parts of the landscape are not that bright. The Tbilisi Cathedral, Tsminda Sameba, however is one of the most luminous buildings seen from above.
