Early evening in the city of Toledo, with the Alcazr high on the hill above the Puente de Alcantara.

Toledo’s El Alcazar is a fortress built by King Carlos V in the 16th century, though it was rebuilt in the 20th century after it was the scene of a siege in the Spanish Civil War, when Franco’s Nationalist supporters took refuge from the Republicans.

Franco oversaw the reconstruction and for many years the site remained one of the few places in Spain to celebrate his rule.

The Puente de Alcantara bridge is an ancient Roman route into the city of Toledo over Rio Tajo and trhough the Puerta de Alcantara city gate.

Evening views hit different from this end

As the sun creeps closer to the horizon, a 2-foot gauge mixed train rolls through a tiny, deserted railroad yard in rural Maine, hauling newspapers, light freight and a few passengers.

This image was captured during an evening photo excursion at the WW&F Railway Museum during the 2024 Annual Picnic event. This particular train featured WW&F Locomotive #9, lettered for her previous owner, the Kennebec Central Railroad, where she wore the number 4. The consist behind her is pretty authentic-looking for the KCRR, which had just a small handful of passenger and freight equipment. The 5-mile long KCRR served the National Soldiers Home in Togus, Maine.

On Thai Airways A333 taking off shortly before the evening storm as you can see in the image hit the area that evening. Our flight time from Bangkok to Taipei is approx. 3.3 hours. This flight was on time, and we arrived in Taipei safely around 10 pm.

Clouds and a bright blue sky this evening above the home where my wife and I reside.

A quiet evening by Loch a' Chairn Bhain, a large inlet on the West Highland coastline. Over the wall to the left is a cottage which is half a kilometre from the road. Behind is Ben Quinnag. The cottage has no mod con and water is pumped up from a well. Calor gas for cooking. Oil lamps for lighting. Idyllic. (Well, it was all those years ago when this old photo was taken from spending 2 weeks living there. Best seen larger size.)
