What it says on the tin! Excting to see some of our winter visitors arriving here in South Woodham Ferrers, especially the Brent Geese who arrived this week! Hopefully I'll get chance to get some pics of them soon! P.S. I love the nobbly knees on the Godwits!
The fields behind my house ... walked to the shop ... grabbed a few snaps ... happy Paul!

This is from the lake that keeps on glowing in the fall. The only challenge was keeping Sam out of the water long enough to keep the water ripple free.
Remnants of thunderstorms drift about as the sun settles in the west and lights up the tops of the clouds in the eastern sky above El. Franco Lee Park.
Georgia has returned home safely and is doing well even though she’s a bit tired from the experience. She spent a total of 5 days in the hospital and managed to beat the infection that was causing her problems. There were other issues, but they were all taken care of as well. A bit of rest and she’s doing splendidly. What to thank everyone for your kind thoughts and many prayers. They were very much appreciated. I’ll try to slot back in here and hope that we can get back to normal. Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead. Peace.

A late first upload today as well, since I've spent much time photographing all the interesting birds in my neighbourhood today too (and finding a brand new species for me and our municipality!) I will show that one tomorrow.
But here is one from the archive:
It was lovely to suddenly be surrounded by a big elephant family, in an open jeep in South Africa - listening to them and studying them for a long time.

What I think to be a controlled burn next a supper market parking lot. However it burned right up to the cars that were parked in the lot.
One of my last shots of the evening from last night, taken around 20 minutes after sunset.
Low wide angle shot to avoid the debris that the tide had left on the beach, Just managed to catch some reflection in the wet sand.

I love this photo of my son and his buddies. Shot with a Nikon Pronea 6i—since it's difficult to do reprints now from the old APS cartridges, I scanned this one. I really did like my Pronea 6i and especially liked the 7x4 size prints, which gave more room for images width-wise without having a bunch of sky or ground!!
Following a frustrating day (and indeed week!) fotting down south, the sun finally made an appearance at Doncaster on the evening of 13.07.16 for the appearance of 66779, as it passed through on the 6E88 12.39 Middleton Towers - Goole Glassworks loaded sand train. The loco has been named "Evening Star" and painted BR Brunswick Green by GBRf as it will be the final Class 66 built for the UK.
“Cottonwood Grove, Evening” — Late-day light shines into a cottonwood grove along the Merced River, Yosemite Valley.
At the end of October I spent a couple of days photographing fall color in Yosemite Valley. Previously I posted about “three” main sources of fall foliage int he valley, listing big leaf maple, dogwood, and black oaks. But I left out another important tree, the cottonwood. This photograph was made within a grove of cottonwoods growing along a quiet section of the Merced River.
This particular spot is one that I’ve photographed quite a few times in the past. It is a little trickier to get there these days, since the park has limited access points in order to discourage visitors from trampling fragile locations that were once accessible. I had to search a bit to find a way to get here that didn’t violate the protected zones. Once I did, I walked along the river bank in later afternoon to this spot, where the trees grow thickly near the water.

I sketched as the sun was setting and the island's little owls started darting around making funny noises. Today is the Greek independence day. We are also changing the time tonight. In Volissos (Chios) Greece.

An evening shower (or two) broke out during the golden moments near sunset between a wide array of cloud types basking in the orange glows of filtered rays of sunlight.
