2.3 liters of 5pot Audi goodness- even though only the front wheels were powered through the 3speed auto, the bucketloads of character and power this engine has still shone through. Two vintage steam engines which operated at the biggest steam ploughing firm in the country returned to Sleaford this summer. The engines were paraded through the town to commemorate 75 years since the closure of the firm that was based on Mareham Lane.
Ward and Dale Steam Cultivating Contractors was originally opened by brothers Frederick and William Ward in 1876 and the company closed in 1939.
This little engine hauled wagon load's of slate from the quarries to the workshops where it was made into roof slates. It now it hauls tourists..................North Wales.
