Swanscombe Peninsula is a rough (very) triangle of land most bordered by industrial stuff, but with a slowly spreading housing development at its west point. The road separating the industrial stuff and empty(ish) seemed to me to have been something in the past, as it was surfaced, but overgrown and littered with random things like this little area of traffic management things - a STOP sign , a Melba Block (the thing on the right) and what I took to be a sort of movable bollard - red and white ribbed plastic filled with concrete. The area generally, I think, is one of many dug out chalk or lime pits in the area, most of the industry at the time being logistics/transport/waste management.

Empty Sky is the official New Jersey September 11 memorial to the state's victims of the September 11 attacks on the United States. Designed by Jessica Jamroz and Frederic Schwartz, it was dedicated on Saturday, September 10, 2011, a day before the tenth anniversary of the attacks.

The History of the Ohio State Reformatory:
"The cornerstone laid on November 4, 1886 evolved into this magnificent Chateauesque structure. Cleveland architect Levi T. Scofield designed the Ohio State Reformatory using a combination of three architectural styles; Victorian Gothic, Richardsonian Romanesque and Queen Anne. This was done to encourage inmates back to a "rebirth" of their spiritual lives. The architecture itself inspired them to turn away from their sinful lifestyle, and toward repentance
The Reformatory doors were opened to its first 150 young offenders in September 1896. After housing over 155,000 men in its lifetime, the doors to the prison closed December 31, 1990.
Today the Ohio State Reformatory Historic Site receives visitors from all over the world. Every year tourists, movie buffs, thrill seekers and paranormal investigators walk through the halls of this majestic structure.

grief strikes in odd ways. I stayed in from teaching today. I need to do a dress rehearsal in TUX tonight which will be taped in HD for a documentary film and I thought I'd best be emotionally ready for that.
Will write some places I want to move.

A lone KCS SD70ACe leads leads KCLX empties from Amsterdam, MO up the hill on Main Track 1 of the KCT East-West Corridor at Sheffield as it meets BNSF train Y-KCK1221-19I on Main Track 4, waiting for traffic to clear up before arriving at CPKC's Knoche Yard with a transfer from BNSF's Argentine Yard.
These KCLX empties actually came from Evergy's La Cygne Generating Station at La Cygne, KS, but the lead to the plant splits off from a wye along the CPKC Pittsburg Sub at Amsterdam on the Missouri side. This train train will be interchanged to the UP at 10th St in Fairfax, becoming UP train CLCWT-19. 1/19/25.
I went to Big W tonight and found out that they had changed their closing time to 6pm. So I took a walk around the mall and found a great photo opportunity. This was straight out of the camera, with no processing.
