Wandering through the central market of Phnom Penh ,Cambodia ,I saw a stall selling cooked food . Several groups were sitting at tables & eating from a series of metal bowls . But I was struck by this pretty young girl with beautiful (sad) eyes staring ahead over empty bowls ,whilst the adults were busy scoffing & chatting around her !! .I assume that she had already eaten or perhaps might be fed later .
A few years ago this street would have been a very bust place! It's along the side of the ropery Chatham docks.
The Double Rope House has spinning on the upper floors and ropemaking ( a ropewalk) on the ground floor. It is 346m (1135 ft) long, and when constructed was the longest brickbuilt building in Europe capable of laying a 1000ft rope. Over 200 men were required before 1836, to make and lay a 20in (circumference) cable. All was done by hand. Steam power in the form of a beam engine was introduced in 1836, and then electricity in the early 1900s.
The White Yarn House to store the yarn before it was tarred to prevent rot.
What shall we use to fill the empty
Spaces where we used to talk?
How shall I fill the final places?
How shall I complete the wall?
A weathered soul, a silent sigh,
A house stands lone against the sky.
Where once a hearth held warmth and cheer,
Now emptiness and shadows peer.
The wind whispers tales untold,
Of laughter lost, of stories cold.
Each broken pane, a tear that's shed,
For dreams and days forever fled.
A storm brews high, a tempest near,
Yet fate's decree has long been here.
The house endures, a steadfast stand,
A monument to life's demand.
The clouds above, a heavy shroud,
Reflect the thoughts that linger 'round.
A haunting beauty, stark and bare,
A house of clouds, a soul laid bare.
DH59, proudly displaying its new numbers, rolls across the Monbulk Creek trestle bridge with an empty carriages working from Gembrook.
This consist had been used for the Thomas Fun Run day at Gembrook. Earlier in the day, it had left Belgrave for Emerald where it picked up the Peckett locomotive, which almost permanantly masquerades as Thomas. The Peckett was dropped off at Emerald on the way back to Belgrave, where it performed a bit of shunting.
DH59 was re-numbered DH31 after it was bought by Puffing Billy Railway. Following a period in Spring 2015 where it ran without any numbering, it was finally re-numbered back to DH59.
I passed this small lake a couple of days ago as I returned from a clients house. The sight of this one lone bench captured my attention and I had to turn around.

We didn’t go to many museums in Japan, but the Hiroshima Museum of Art was on our list, and it didn’t disappoint. The museum had many famous Western paintings, but also Western-style Japanese painting, which I found very impressive myself. And the cherry on top was the Finnish lifestyle special exhibition!
The Empty Sky Memorial, located in Liberty State Park in Jersey City NJ. The memorial is dedicated to New Jersey's "746 innocent loved ones who were violently and senselessly murdered that day at the World Trade Center.
