One of these days there will be people sitting on this bench soaking up the sun and enjoying the cool breezes from the lake. Yesterday, however, was not the day.
Only a few seconds after photographing 66504 and 59004 at Great Cheverell on 7A17, the 10:24 Merehead - Colnbrook, 59205 swept into the frame hauling 6C31, the 10:08 Theale - Whatley empties.
The two wagons immediately to the right of 59205 are the lead vehicles of 7A17
Former Galeria Kaufhof (closed in 2020) that was used as a furniture store afterwards which now also closed. The upper two floors are still used by an electronics store.
Second floor: you can reach the electronics store by elevator or the escalators. While people can roam around the empty ground floor the other floors are blocked with barriers, safe for the escape routes and toilets. Also while the ground floor was fully lit, the other two had only a few lights on. My camera made it much more brighter than it actually was.

Empty shops and business premises are a common sight on UK High Streets, but many vacancies are relatively short lived - the shops are soon in use again although in these difficult times, the new business may only have a limited life.
This collection portrays retail outlets that in most instances have been empty long-term, some for many years, some for shorter periods of time. In the past, all these have housed thriving businesses. Yet now, they are empty with many falling into a state of disrepair and dilapidation.
Each has its own story to tell. Some are completely empty, others seem to have stopped trading suddenly and appear like the Marie-Celeste, still with stock in the windows. In many cases, we can tell easily from the old signage what business last operated from the shop. Others are a complete mystery with faded blinds or shutters and all signs removed.

Just got this new Nifty Fifty lens (Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM) and this is a test shot of the beautiful bench near the Hanover Park Metra station on Ontarioville Road.
So far like the creamy out of focus area, also known as bokeh, colors, transmission, in focus sharpness. Don't like the chromatic aberration (which has been corrected here in software) at f/1.8 and larger.

This simple yet powerful memorial stands in Plac Bohaterow Getta or Ghetto Heroes Square as a lasting reminder of the persecution of Jewish people during the Second World War. The 70 bronze chairs are scattered around the square, symbolising loss and absence. A number of the chairs are at bus stops to be used by people, highlighting that anyone can be a victim.
Small stones are placed by people who visit Jewish graves in an act of remembrance or respect for the deceased.

Empty coal "buckets" (Bethgons) are headed West past Rose Yard in Altoona, PA on NS's Pittsburgh Line. There are windmills on the hill in the background, too.

An empty eastbound unit grain train (aka "an earthworm" - so called, because of the way they crawl across the desert landscape) passes a westbound container train heading to the west coast.
This train is heading back to the grain producing regions of the American Midwest and moved westward with a load of cereal grain for export that was perhaps loaded on a ship at the Port of Stockton.
