Recently I have sent some elements for inspiration to Masaaki Shinko. Here is the result of what he made for me: a wind-ornament from ceramic
This element can never burn out. It's two discs of stainless steel separated by a ceramic insulator. It relies on the resistance of the water, so the water purity affects how much current it draws. It works extremely well, however the current draw can be higher than expected. If this is problematic, one option would be to run it from a Variac at reduced voltage.
For the 1st assignment of @dailyshoot year 2, create a photo with a single element, no distractions, & lots of contrast.
I bought one of these Tucano Second Skin Folders for my PowerBook.
They come in a few other colors, but the SD Fry's totally sucks on selection.

CASTILLO Y MURALLA
The Queen Elizabeth II Bridge is a 137 m (449 ft) high and 812 m (2,664 ft) long cable-stayed road bridge across the River Thames in south east England. It was opened in 1991 by Queen Elizabeth II.
The bridge is the southbound element of the A282 Dartford Crossing, joining the two ends of the M25 clockwise carriageway, a strategic congestion charged road crossing the half mile wide river east of London. It was built alongside two earlier tunnels under the Thames, which now form the northbound element of the crossing.
Upon completion, the bridge was Europe's largest cable-supported bridge. As of 2010, by main span length, it is the second largest cable-stayed bridge in the United Kingdom behind the Second Severn Crossing (6 m longer and opened in 1996) and the 44th largest cable-stayed bridge in the world.

The image was silkscreened by me onto kraft paper, two colors used black and yellow.
As for inspiraion, since the theme seem to me more educational... I though it would be fun to show the element in a more different way, as to where it is found (bannanas) and what the element was classified as : metal... so I thought that making a structural banana with plates jumping into the foreground and informing the viewer some basic data, the atomic number and name of the element... I thought that it was just fun, in total four different facts are being told about the element in the image.
I also love bananas... so i was really excited when doing it.. lol!!
