Osservando i paesaggi di montagna, spesso si nota una sorta di convergenza architettonica tra le forme arboree e quelle alpine. Il profilo conico distingue infatti l'aspetto dei pecci, alberi tipicamente alpini e quello delle guglie, dei bastioni e dei campanili che il lavoro degli elementi ha sagomato nel corso dei tempi geologici. Casualità? Forse, ma comunque affascinante ..... ..
Gli elementi essenziali per la vita sul Pianeta: la luce solare e le piante. Senza la fonte perenne di luce che inonda di colore la superficie della Terra e di gioia di vivere il nostro animo, non ci sarebbe vita. Nè essa potrebbe esistere senza gli organismi speciali che la catturano e la trasformano magicamente in sostanza organica e dunque in materia vivente ..... ..
Un fiore di fiordaliso (Centaurea sp.) e una piccola ape nera: come a dire una "combinazione elementare", o meglio, una relazione ecologica elementare; in questo caso, di natura trofica. In questa immagine scontata, in questa relazione semplice e diretta, tuttavia, c'è la chiave stessa della vita sul Pianeta. Al punto che un Genio dell'Umanità si è spinto ad affermare che gli umani si estingueranno tre anni dopo l'estinzione delle api ..... ..
From this morning's walk in the rain. Rain drops on the lens (seldom use the lens hood; virtual head slap), rain on my eyeglasses, rain blowing everywhere gently! Love it. Did put the camera and lens in an old plastic shield that did very little.
But the camera is old. We'll see just how weather-sealed it is, eh?
Seagulls have made the remaining pieces of the old King's Wharf a home. The light on the morning I took these photos was very dull, with little bits of a pastel blue sky breaking through the gloomy clouds. It's hard to imagine that just a little over 50 years ago this was a bustling maritime environment.

Des vents pliant et séchant toute végétation. Perdus dans ses innombrables sentiers, sous nos pas, crisse le temps.

Mount Aigoual. A highlight. Space dot. Above elements with cold mist in summer like in winter.
Folding drying winds and vegetation. Lost in countless paths under our feet crunching time.

As we made our way through the Nicola Valley, the shadows grew longer, and the colors got more intense. Time of day is the first component in the broth for capturing those wicked colors. When the sun gets lower in the sky, cool blue rays are slowly replaced with warm red rays. And, adding a polarizing filter to both remove stray white light, and saturate colors, is the second part.
The third element to successfully capturing those rich colors, is to do so after it rains, which had recently happened. This in turn clears the atmosphere of various particulates, sort of like cleaning the front element of your lens. Now with all three ingredients of my recipe in place, it is no wonder this is my favourite time to shoot a landscape.
I don’t know how we came across this rock exactly as my father used to collect interesting lumps of rock. We have granite from Cornwall which was going to be my first choice but the I remembered about this copper containing rock. There are circular holes in the rock so I assume that there must be a volcanic element to it tough I cannot be sure.

A nice spring sky reflected on one of the sides of the Darmstadtium congress center in Darmstadt, Germany. Darmstadtium is both the name of this wonderfully photogenic building and of the transuranic element 110, which was synthesized in a research center close to town.

I did speak to the lady. I waited until they were both facing away from me. I was going to wait until they were right out of the frame but decided this angle would be ok.
