Un fiore di fiordaliso (Centaurea sp.) e una piccola ape nera: come a dire una "combinazione elementare", o meglio, una relazione ecologica elementare; in questo caso, di natura trofica. Das zentrale Element des IG Metall Hauses in Berlin ist das lichtdurchflutete Treppenhaus, das alle Etagen miteinander verbindet. Eine großzügige Wendeltreppe mit einem Durchmesser von fast 5 Metern ist Ort der Bewegung und der Kommunikation gleichermaßen. Alle Metallteile wurden in Messing ausgeführt und die mitlaufenden Geländerstäbe betonen die runde Formgebung der Treppe. Das Treppenhaus kann nur von unten besichtigt und fotografiert werden, ein Hinaufsteigen wird nicht gestattet. Das Haus der IG Metall ist seit 1971 denkmalgeschützt.

The central element of the IG Metall building in Berlin is the light-flooded staircase that connects all floors. A generous spiral staircase with a diameter of almost 5 metres is a place of movement and communication in equal measure. All metal parts are made of brass and the balustrades emphasize the round shape of the staircase. The staircase can only be viewed and photographed from below, unfortunately climbing up is not permitted. The IG Metall building has been a listed building since 1971.
Cloister of the former convent of San Francesco, Castelbuono (Pa)
This splendid sixteenth-century cloister, inside the former convent, is accessed from the square, through the artistic portal dated 1755.
It is part of a monumental complex including the Church of San Francesco, the former Convent, and the Octagonal Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua.
In recent times, it was used as a Carabinieri Barracks, Magistrates Court and Elementary School.
It has recently undergone conservative restoration.

A questo splendido Chiostro cinquecentesco, all’interno dell’ex convento, si accede dalla piazza, attraverso l’artistico Portale datato 1755.
Fa parte di un complesso monumentale comprendente la Chiesa di San Francesco, l'ex Convento appunto, e della Cappella Ottagonale di S.Antonio di Padova.
In epoca recente, e' stato destinato a Caserma dei Carabinieri, Pretura e Scuola Elementare.
E' stato sottoposto da poco tempo a restauro conservativo.
Kousanji (高山寺 meaning "high mountain temple") is a Buddhist temple of Shingon sect (真言宗) located in Ogawa village northeast of Miasa. As the name suggests, it is situated near a ridge that commands a good view of Kita Alps.
Akamatsu (Japanese red pine, Pinus densiflora) is native to Japan, Korea, Northeast China and Russian Far East. It is often planted in Japanese gardens. Akamatsu grows in sunny mountainous areas in contrast to Kuromatsu (Japanese black pine, Pinus thunbergii) that grows in coastal areas of Japan and Korea. These pine trees are an important element for forming the landscapes in Japan.
Pine trees are popular Bonsai trees.

When we first laid eyes on our puppy (a little over a year before this image of her was taken), the color told us immediately that her name must be Sedona. So, when we had a chance to take her there, of course she had to have multiple photo shoots in the region. This is one of the images from along the Oak Creek, after enduring a long 4x4 adventure that she didn't particularly enjoy, she was pleased to relax and take in the view from a stable seated position.

As we made our way through the Nicola Valley, the shadows grew longer, and the colors got more intense. Time of day is the first component in the broth for capturing those wicked colors. When the sun gets lower in the sky, cool blue rays are slowly replaced with warm red rays. And, adding a polarizing filter to both remove stray white light, and saturate colors, is the second part.
The third element to successfully capturing those rich colors, is to do so after it rains, which had recently happened. This in turn clears the atmosphere of various particulates, sort of like cleaning the front element of your lens. Now with all three ingredients of my recipe in place, it is no wonder this is my favourite time to shoot a landscape.
As we toured by boat along the coast, it became more obvious how different the coastline looks when seen from the water side. All sorts of activities take on a very different perspective, and this was one of many.
Nosed in, this fishing vessel appears to be incongruous but under repair. Removed from her natural habitat of a watery life, she looks to be "out of her element", and rather uncomfortable.
... not really, he still prefers a snugly place on the couch ;-))

I don’t know how we came across this rock exactly as my father used to collect interesting lumps of rock. We have granite from Cornwall which was going to be my first choice but the I remembered about this copper containing rock. There are circular holes in the rock so I assume that there must be a volcanic element to it tough I cannot be sure.
