The Pentagon Memorial is designed so that the nation may remember and reflect on the events that occurred on September 11, 2001. The 2011 US Army Educators' and Community Leaders' Tour began with a visit to the Pentagon on April 19, 2011. The U.S. Army Harrisburg Recruiting Battalion sponsored 24 Pennsylvania educators' and community leaders' during April 18-21, 2011 for the 2011 U.S. Army Educators' and Community Leaders' Tour to the Military District of Washington including visits to the Pentagon, Fort Myer and Fort Belvoir.
Former Celtic Dana Barros, Boston Mamas blogger Christine Koh and Kiss 108 radio personality Billy Costa were educators for a day at the Parlin School in Everett on Nov. 21, 2013. The honorary position gives community members a chance to become involved in American Education Week and to see the opportunities and challenges in public schools.
