El Museo del Barrio invited educators to see the newly renovated facilities, including two exceptional inaugural exhibitions: VOCES Y VISIONES: Four decades through El Museo del Barrio's Permanent Collection, and NEXUS NEW YORK: Latin/American Artists in the Modern Metropolis in Manhattan Nov. 12, 2009. Academics from Cranbrook Art Museum, Detroit Institute of Art, The George Washington University Museum and other cultural institutions visited Dabls MBAD African Bead Museum, for a tour of the art installations and to learn about the history of African beads. 9 educators from Bojanala Region in North West Province of South Africa visited the READ Trust office for a day's workshop and a visit to three project schools in Gauteng province
On Aug. 12, the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce hosted the Educator Appreciation Breakfast for teachers new to CFB. The event was cosponsored by CFB and Brookhaven College. The keynote speaker was Arthur James, Executive Dean of North Lake College.
