On April 20, Pennsylvania educators' visited Fort Belvoir, first stop was the Family Housing Welcome Center. The U.S. Army Harrisburg Recruiting Battalion sponsored 24 Pennsylvania educators' and community leaders' during April 18-21, 2011 for the 2011 U.S. Army Educators' and Community Leaders' Tour to the Military District of Washington including visits to the Pentagon, Fort Myer and Fort Belvoir. Every year, the College of Education hosts a back-to-school thank-you reception for Pullman-area educators, in particular the Pullman School District, with whom the college has had a special relationship for a number of years. This year's event took place at South Fork on August 22.
A boisterous crowd of hundreds of educators, union activists and community supporters rallied on January 17 in support of New Bedford High School educators, many of whom could lose their jobs under a “turnaround” plan proposed by Superintendent Pia Durkin.

At the end of May, Sixty Inches From Center attended the One State Together In The Arts Conference in Bloomington, Illinois. Every two years state-wide artists, educators, arts advocates, arts organizers and arts organizations come together in a different city to exchange ideas, share experiences and get to know the people doing great things in the arts throughout Illinois. Around the theme Creative Breakthrough, presenters in the fields of design, music, poetry, theater and more offered their insights on what it has taken for them to take their ideas to new heights, push further and apply what they’ve learned to how they will move forward.
