Florida's state song is the Stephen Foster classic, Old Folks at Home, or, if you prefer the alternate name, Suwannee River.
The song is about a slave longing for his easygoing days back on the plantation. As you can probably imagine, the song hasn't aged all that well, especially since the original lyrics were meant to be performed by a blackface performer and were written as such.
Florida put up these fancy signs with the first bar of the song at all major crossings of the fabled Suwannee. I shot this while my friend was going 90 (in an Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight with a dirty windshield), so it is somewhat blurry.
I-10, Suwannee/Madison County line.

In 2002 Spirit became the first Montana Grizzly to be placed at the Center. As a six-year-old, mother of two, Spirit was known by Fish, Wildlife and Parks biologists as "Easy" because of her easygoing personality and was often seen roaming the beach or golf course near the community in Whitefish, Montana. She obtained some human food and was passing on this behavior to both her cubs. Although she never was involved with aggressive tendency toward humans, it was only a matter of time before a dangerous situation became a reality. Spirit was relocated six times, but continued to return to the golf community even after intensive aversive conditioning with the use of Karelian Bear Dogs, cracker shells and rubber bullets. After one of her cubs was killed by a car, officials decided to remove the other cub by placing it in captivity at the Denver Zoo, and then to remove Spirit from the wild forever. Soon after arriving at the Center, this bear received the name Spirit in honor of the spritual signigicance of grizzlies to many Native American people.

"Tasi Alabastro is awfully funny as Dev, Con’s cheery and easygoing friend who comes off as a loveable doofus but is actually pretty insightful.“ - Sam Hurwitt reviews www.mercurynews.com/2017/09/18/review-chekhovs-seagull-ha...
This pretty girl is EDWINA, a 2-3 year old Collie/Aussie mix who’s gentle, affectionate and people-oriented. She has a rather submissive side, so will need kind handling and training to help her build her confidence. Since she’s very attentive, food-motivated and eager to please, she should be a great dog to train.
Edwina is looking for a kind, calm home; she would probably do best as an only dog, but might get along with a younger, easygoing male canine companion.
Edwina lives in Kennel 1.

This Floribunda was developed in the UK in 1998 (Harkness) and grows in USDA zone 6b and warmer. Used for beds and borders, container rose, cut flower or garden.
Because Stanley Park uses no chemical fertilizer or pesticides, it's an advantage to have vigorous and naturally disease resistant roses - especially where blackspot's concerned, and this one fills the bill beautifully.
Golden-yellow, apricot shading. the roses have a lovely honey-like fragrance. Average diameter 4.25". Large, full (26-40 petals), cluster-flowered, in small clusters

Welcome to the internet home of the Fernwood Road Cafe. This beautiful little spot on Salt Spring Island is the dreamchild of Jennifer and David Shaw. Transplants from North Vancouver (though Jennifer has a long family history with Salt Spring), Jennifer and David purchased the Fernwood Road Cafe on October 1, 2011 and have been living the Island dream since.
Coming from a background as a lawyer, a custom cake designer (yes, those are wildly different professions) and years of coffee education at Starbucks, Jennifer brings a history of business and a desire to give 110% to everything that she does. Whether it’s making your favorite non-fat, half-sweet, decaf, extra hot, wet vanilla cappuccino or serving up a slice of her Grandma’s Secret Recipe lemon cake, Jennifer strives to do her best.
His background in the travel industry (Evergreen Tours) and many years of working for Islanders’ favorite transportation company, gives David a unique perspective on Island life and the challenges of a community reliant on tourism and restricted transportation links. David’s easygoing manner hides his serious side, but there is nothing more serious that making sure that every patron at the cafe has an enjoyable experience.
At Fernwood Road Cafe, we are here for the long run. We strive to be a part of the community and are always looking for new ways to bring people together to talk, play and expand their horizons.

In mid-July, Harris Center naturalists Brett Amy Thelen and Susie Spikol led a small group on a 2-mile ramble along the Old Dublin to Eaton Road Rail Trail in Hancock. The group saw plenty of mushrooms after weeks of rain, an adorable red eft, a Phoebe nestling, and learned a bit about the history of the old railroad.

This is the leader of a pack of strays in the Metropolitan Park in Kaohsiung which live near a bathroom that I always stop at with my dog to give her a drink when walking here. i call him Choccy because of his lovely chocolate colour, and my dog, Tigger, finds him very attractive! He's easygoing and friendly, but has obviously seen some battles, with several scars and a floppy ear. The new wound on his nose didn't seem to be bothering him.

This is from a family photo session I recently did. I love this image. One of the things I consciously do when I shoot is try to analyze the personality of my subject and bring that out in the shoot. This baby boy was very easygoing, but he did seem to be very aware of the world around him- his eyes look like he is just figuring it all out as he looks around. He did not cry, but there were moments when he found something intimidating and went running (okay, well, not exactly running) back to the place of security: his parents.
A little known fact about me (which I probably should spend more time publicizing) is that I will do family or portrait photo sessions in Pacific Beach for $150. You get all the final images in digital form. You can also have the option to order prints (but that means sales tax has to be added).

Chicago's only Brewery puts out a great Christmas Ale that Erik had in his house when I visited last week, and the local bar down the street had it on tap as well. Just about anything this brewery puts out is great.
Appearance: Dark brown with an amber hue. Nice head, though my hand slipped when I poured this one so the head looks messed up in the glass.
Smell: Rich and caramel with some spice.
Taste: Yum. This is a good winter ale. Not too strong, just the right amount of spice and richness to it to take the edge off from the cold. It's very typical of other winter ale's I have had but more balanced with no dominating alcohol taste.
Mouthfeel: Smooth and easygoing. Not heavy on the carbonation.
Drinkability: I could drink these all nite. Most Winter/x-mas brews I just want one or two before I move on to something else. This one is an excellent drinker. Another regional brew we don't see here in TX, which is unfortunate. I'd recommend this one for sure.
