Florida put up these fancy signs with the first bar of the song at all major crossings of the fabled Suwannee. I shot this while my friend was going 90 (in an Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight with a dirty windshield), so it is somewhat blurry.

In 2002 Spirit became the first Montana Grizzly to be placed at the Center. As a six-year-old, mother of two, Spirit was known by Fish, Wildlife and Parks biologists as "Easy" because of her easygoing personality and was often seen roaming the beach or golf course near the community in Whitefish, Montana. She obtained some human food and was passing on this behavior to both her cubs. Although she never was involved with aggressive tendency toward humans, it was only a matter of time before a dangerous situation became a reality. Spirit was relocated six times, but continued to return to the golf community even after intensive aversive conditioning with the use of Karelian Bear Dogs, cracker shells and rubber bullets. After one of her cubs was killed by a car, officials decided to remove the other cub by placing it in captivity at the Denver Zoo, and then to remove Spirit from the wild forever. Soon after arriving at the Center, this bear received the name Spirit in honor of the spritual signigicance of grizzlies to many Native American people.

In mid-July, Harris Center naturalists Brett Amy Thelen and Susie Spikol led a small group on a 2-mile ramble along the Old Dublin to Eaton Road Rail Trail in Hancock. The group saw plenty of mushrooms after weeks of rain, an adorable red eft, a Phoebe nestling, and learned a bit about the history of the old railroad.

Benson had been living outside for a while, being cared for by his human neighbors. But they knew such a friendly guy shouldn't be outside at all. So with their help we got him inside and thanks to @brooklyncatfarm he's now neutered, tested, vaccinated and microchipped. He's ready to find a home! This 2year old grey short-haired male is very affectionate and easygoing.Negative for FIV and FeLV, he's in great health. He's so happy to be inside! Edwina is looking for a kind, calm home; she would probably do best as an only dog, but might get along with a younger, easygoing male canine companion.

This is the leader of a pack of strays in the Metropolitan Park in Kaohsiung which live near a bathroom that I always stop at with my dog to give her a drink when walking here. i call him Choccy because of his lovely chocolate colour, and my dog, Tigger, finds him very attractive! He's easygoing and friendly, but has obviously seen some battles, with several scars and a floppy ear. The new wound on his nose didn't seem to be bothering him.
