I'm a big fan of this corregated wall, it's crying out to be the backdrop to an interesting or beautiful subject - not a dumped flatpack cabinet. it'll do for now though...
Taken by my niece. My sister and niece both volunteer for Safe Passage in Guatemala. They sent me these beautiful photos and the sad news that the founder, Hanley Denning, was fatally injured in an automobile accident on Thursday, January 18, 2007, in Guatemala City.

Before proceeding I would like to acknowledge that cruelty to innocent animals happens in this entre world because we all still behave like our caveman ancestors even though we think we're a modern society. I am bringing up this dog issue, not because I am bias but because it is recent and I now have access to Flickr. I wasn't with Flickr yet during the foot and mouth crisis in UK or SARS.
Many say that China is developing rapidly and I agree, up till now. The skyscrappers may still be rising but the minds of the people aren't. It hasn't changed and is probably going backwards. An uncivilized, primitive and inhumane nation that still behaves like the prehistoric caveman will never truly progress.
I am referring to the recent massacre of dogs in order to solve the rabies problem. How can the most populated country with so many intellectuals come up with such a primitive solution? Right - Problem = Rabies, Solution = Exterminate every dog in sight. You might as well extinct dogs and all animals that can cause rabies so rabies itself will become extinct as well. First of all, it is not the dogs' fault - they can't go and get the rabies vaccination by themselves. What about the owners who failed to vaccinate them or people who abandoned their dogs leading to strays? Shouldn't you club them or strangle them to death along with their innocent dogs as well?
There must be better solutions - introduce vaccinations and spaying/neutering to control strays, quarantine the dogs and treatment if required or kill those found affected. Some dogs that have already been vaccinated were also grabbed from owners by the authorities and executed.
I am extremely disappointed with the way issues are dealt with in a country I loved. You will suffer the same fate, probably even worst, as the innocent dogs you massacred.

The Dump (87,812 square feet)

This was originally a Kmart, which was built and opened in 1974. It became The Dump on June 28th, 1996.
Books and stuff dumped in the spare bedroom while the living room is being redecorated. I was bored and wanted to try out the flash on my new Nikon.

That took him about 1 minute, plus the 2 or three to scrape the stuff the stuck to the metal from the cold. Far better than the hours it took me to unload the dump trailers by hand!
As I said before, I ran out of sand. When I got it before, I got the sand, I picked it up using my fathers dump trailer. As it turns out, the sand was to heavy and I ended up having to unload most of it by hand.
I really did not want to do that again. To be honest, I am getting tired and cold:) and I have a torn shoulder that is awaiting a second surgery.
So, anyway, I convinced my wife to separate with the extra bit of money so we could pay to have the company deliver it. It was absolutely worth it to me!!! Thank you so much HAT CREEK CONSTRUCTION. They gave me a great deal and have always been kind!
As a bonus I got to see some machinery at work. I love big machines!
