Amelia shines in this electrifying portrait, blending neon hues of cobalt blue and magenta. Captured in St. Louis, her confident pose and striking red boots create a bold, unforgettable statement. This is where fashion meets art in a kaleidoscope of light and color.
I like taking candids. Normally, I take them so the faces are showing but there was such dramatic lighting here with sun and shade that I like this one very much, even though it is a rear view.
Actually, this is a succulent plant, but it looks a lot like the cracked crab claws that poisoned my cousin and me on our recent trip to Mexico. I haven't been that sick in a very long time.
I lit these from the side with a small CF studio lamp and put an off camera flash behind which backlit the orange tips.
This is a combination of three photos, each with a different focus point, combined in Photoshop to give greater depth of field than the lens is optically capable of. This technique is also referred to as "focus stacking". A friend lent me a macro slider which allows for much more precise focusing.
More pictures where I used focus stacking can be seen in my Maximum Depth of Field set. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157624044378381/...

In Yemen, where machines can't go, they use camels to plow land, help with domestic housework and much more. These camels however were freely feeding on dried grass in Yemeni landscape. This photo was taken late afternoon under setting sun and that time of day brings out warm colors.

1949. "We finally meet" she said. "I was getting worried."
"So, what's this important information you think you have?" I enquired.
"You've got a double agent in the ranks. Secrets are being sold and your life is in danger."
I was about to ask if she knew his identity, when we both turned at the sound of footsteps. The echoes made them sound like they were coming from every direction....

Day 31 of 365 – MOTHERS DAY
First and foremost, Dad’s your day will come but this one is for the mom’s. You’ll feel
The love on your day.
Mom’s of the world, you do so much for us.
What if:
my mom hadn’t been there to kiss my scraped knee?
my mom hadn’t been there to help me with my homework?
my mom hadn’t taught me right from wrong?
my mom hadn’t beat my butt when I “forgot” right from wrong?
my mom hadn’t told me she loved me?
my mom hadn’t worked so hard to give me a better life?
my mom hadn’t always pushed me to keep my grades up?
my mom hadn’t beat my butt when my when my grades WEREN’T up?
my mom hadn’t concerned herself with who I hung out with?
my mom hadn’t always put her kids before herself?
my mom hadn’t held me when I was sad?
my mom wasn’t……MY MOM?
Without my mom, I wouldn’t be a fraction of the man I am today. Because of her I have the courage and self esteem to stand up for myself, treat others with respect, and to give 110% of everything I do; regardless of the act. If you’re going to spend the time on doing something….do it right.

The Dance Of Fireflies
You can’t count on the lightning bugs to produce their love glow in the wild but you can depend on the Supertrees to perform accurately on time every night. Embed with photovoltaic cells to capture solar energy in the day, the trees become alive after dusk and illuminate the darkest midnight. The best way to appreciate the 15 minutes light display is to lie down on the cool cement seat and put both hands behind your head. Oh look, the little diamonds are coming now. Copious molecules beginning to vibrate at 200 times per second and dancing to the melody. Wow! Did you feel a surge of electricity charging you? Some things you can’t put in words, you have to experience yourself. How can anything be more romantic than watching 10 million fireflies across Singapore skies with Jimmy?
Cost: Free is such a heavenly word.
Time: 7.45pm and 8.45pm daily.

This is my Bubbie.
In high school, she taught her boyfriend, who lived down the street, how to dance.
She taught him how to dance.
His name was Max...
He died before I was born.
I never got to know my grandpa.
But I never really got to know my Bubbie either.
I just know she taught her first love how to dance-- it was during the Great Depression in Chicago, and every Wednesday night, he would come over, following her into the living room.
And they would dance.
I wonder, the places people go when they close their eyes....

I've been after this shot since we arrived last week but as it is a good distance from where we are lodged, it remained elusive until now. So... here it is... the Maltese capitol of Valletta, seen from Sliema across the Grand Harbor, in its evening glory. Enjoy. :)

Day 13:
Okay, not really moody but I was a bit inspired by Alfred Hitchcock for today's self portrait. I probably should have stuck with suspense or some type of creepy feel but my floor is messy :P Too many magazines and art supplies around.
I get to go back to school and work tomorrow so I'm quite happy about it :)
Cheers!
Don't hesitate to contact me! I love meeting new people!
Framed like a still from a lost noir classic, each pose becomes a brushstroke in a living portrait. The gown gleams like danger wrapped in velvet—this is the femme fatale, mid-scene, just before the plot turns.

Light source was a Canon 580EX II held by Ed Brice high and to the right of the camera. No light modifier. The Speedlite was triggered with a Pocket Wizard. I started with Portrait Professional for very minor tweaks, then used a Deep Forest layer and a Firenza layer with onOne plug-in. The vignette was courtesy of the 580EX!!!

The Hunt for Lighting in November
I originally did another shot today (which you can see here). However, I really didn't like it all that much. So, I went down into the basement/studio and did some experimenting with my lighting.
I don't know what my obsession is with this gas mask, but it really does make for interesting photos - I think I used the Russian military hat in a photo before too. Makes for a dramatic pair, if you ask me!
This was achieved with a single softbox to the right of the subject (his left). I bumped up my aperture a bit and slowed my shutter down just a tad and there you have it! Other than cropping, this is SOOC!!!
Here's another promo photo I did for Daniel Graves of Aesthetic Perfection. So rad to work with and love what we created together. Check out his music if you aren't familiar: @aestheticperfection
