Pastel clouds hover over the modern structures in the City of Arts and Sciences.
The City of Arts and Sciences is an entertainment-based cultural and architectural complex in the city of Valencia, Spain. It is the most important modern tourist destination in the city of Valencia. The architects were Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela.
Love how non-traditional this couple was in pretty much every avenue of their wedding.. it was a true celebration of their love all day long & I can't imagine anything else being more fitting for them that what they already managed to pull together.. it was amazing!!

The coastal town of Whitby photographed in dramatic low angle sunlight against a brooding sky.
Whitby was a fishing and whaling town, later turning to alum and jet export as well as tourism. Famous descendents of Whitby include ocean explorers Captain Cook and William Scoresby. Whitby is also featured in Bram Stoker's 'Dracula'.

Just another photo where I noticed some SWEET light coming through the window in the boys room, and Luke dealt with me taking pics of him in it for a good 10 min. This was my 3rd shot and the best one. I just love the fact that the wall nearest to him was white...yet with the strong light, it's now black. Cool.

I believe that this animal is an impala. I took this picture at the San Diego Zoo while walking around and looking for anything with nice light on it with a dark or shadowed background. In the five previous pictures, the light (and background) are the real subject.
Pre-dawn sunlight turns rare desert storm clouds orange over the Namib Desert, Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia.
This isn't part of the series, I'm just having some trouble putting it together, so for now... here's this! I've had this idea for a while and I got up this morning and did it, I wasn't picturing the shadow that came out like that, but I like it a lot, it's like the actual persons presence that the bust is emptily resembling.

In the forests of the night
I learnt two things while doing this. 1) Tigers actually having surprisingly round pupils, only just a little bit pointed. 2) My eyes are mostly yellow anyway - I always think of them as green, but adding green to them makes them a noticeably different colour, adding yellow has no effect whatsoever.
Random fact: the first time I dressed up as a tiger I was six years old - as the only redhead in the class I was a shoe-in for the role of tiger when we had a three-ring circus.

A macro walk on the blooming prairie. I've been photographing birds almost exclusively of late, and it was good to turn my attention elsewhere. As clouds drifted over the sun, I had opportunities to shoot both hard and soft light. Backlit by evening sunshine, the flowers lacked colour saturation, but they did look more dramatic. I used the Nikon 105mm macro with 1.7x teleconverter, tripod, and cable release. Grasslands National Park, Saskatchewan.

Another late night walk home.
I became obsessed with the light of the cars as they drove through the mist on that pitch black road.
My friend said this shot reminded her of Gregory Crewdson's work. I'll take that.
I'm not sure I'm really worthy of the comparison but it was deeply flattering nonetheless.
This is one of those shots that I just love, when the light is low and direct and the background dark. And El Salto makes such a good model, with his black and white coloring and the way he is looking past me. I still have the first photo that I accomplished the black background naturally. It was of roses in the evening light - shot with a Nikon film camera. When the photos came back from the lab I just stared and thought, wow!
Fast forward to today. I've been rather quiet and not present. Tuesday was the first day that I felt pretty much recovered from my nasty cold (the one that lasted a month) but I was ragged out and feeling a little bummed by a couple of things. On Wednesday I stupidly accepted a challenge to ride a bicycle in the newsroom - and more stupid than that, I showed off. Right before my face and bad arm planted on the floor and skidded across it. It hurts and I'm having trouble holding my camera. I have had a lot of back surgeries and complications but had been doing well, recovering a little more each year...So, still quiet, still bummed and sorting it out. Hoping to be back to myself soon.
I took the football and placed it on a piece of cardboard. I had a flashlight and I was trying to create an image where the ball is kind of a mysterious object. You can decide if I succeeded or not.

I've normally posted pictures of myself right after I wake up, so this is kind of different I suppose. This is pretty much what I look like after a workout.. in dramatic lighting O_o. Mind you I was sitting in the dark with the lens set on manual.. it was weird, but produced a gritty photo, which is what I was going for. Not pretty, but I like it.

My little model. Madelyn began all smiles but as I explained to her the dramatic lighting and the serious mood I was going for, she gave me this. 3 seconds later she was back to being a total goof ball. That is a true professional. She earned herself five stories at bedtime.
