Accessibility Description:

A wide desert landscape stretches beneath a clear, pale blue sky at sunrise. A rugged line of volcanic mountains dominates the scene, their jagged peaks and layered cliffs glowing with warm golden and rust-orange light where the low sun strikes their faces. Shadows spill gently down the slopes, revealing deep folds, fractured rock, and subtle variations in color from burnt umber to muted purple. In the foreground, a broad desert plain is dotted with low shrubs, grasses, and scattered dark stones, their cooler greens and browns contrasting with the illuminated rock above. The light feels calm and unhurried, emphasizing the scale and stillness of the mountains as they rise sharply from the open desert floor.

The early bird catches the worm.

This proverb isn’t about virtue. It’s about timing.

The advantage rarely belongs to the strongest — it belongs to the one who moves first, while everything is still quiet and undecided.

Being early means seeing clearly before the fog of excuses, denials and rewritten versions arrives.

It means leaving the first trace — the first honest account — before anyone tries to bury it under convenience.

In the end, the “worm” is not a reward.

It is the truth: uncomfortable, real, and impossible to unsee once you’ve found it.

A sweeping panorama stitched from seven frames, captured on October 14, 2024, at Mjelva camping near Åndalsnes. To the left, the majestic Romsdalen cradles the E136 highway, while to the right, Isterdalen climbs toward the legendary Trollstigen. Rising between these valleys are Norafjellet and Nonshaugen, with Setnesfjellet piercing the mist on the far right. Autumn’s golden hues embrace the foreground, contrasting with snow-dusted peaks and a dramatic sky, a perfect harmony of seasons and landscapes.

Fun Fact

Trollstigen, visible through Isterdalen, is one of Norway’s most iconic mountain roads, featuring 11 hairpin bends and a 10% incline. It’s closed in winter due to heavy snow, making autumn one of the last chances to experience its dramatic beauty before the seasonal closure.

Very strong autumn sunshine in a bright interval on the dramatic Holwick Scar. These Dolerite cliffs, formed by volcanic action, form part of the great Whin Sill which stretches acrross northern England. It can be seen at Low Force and High Force waterfalls, further upstream at Falcon Clints, on the Northumberland coast at Dunstanburgh and Cullernose Point, and offshore where it creates the Farne Islands.

the light slices across his face like a question—half a story caught between confession and defiance. texture meets silence in every pore, every crease, while the eye, lit just so, holds a mirror to something deeply unfixed. in the shadow’s cradle, he wears mystery like a second skin.

Haraz mountains is about 85 kms (a good 2-hour drive) from Sana'a. It reaches to 2300 meters above sea. As far as you can see there are mountains, smaller ones, bigger ones, and about 90 percent of these mountains are covered with terraces for agriculture. Not all of them are used anymore, because lots of locals have moved to the capital and there's just not enough people left to work all the fields. On every hilltop or big rock a town was built, for protection against enemies in the past, incredible constructions, it is mind-boggling how they managed to build them all ...

We finish today's shot with a dramatic example of an acute angle of the sun's rays and a brooding sky.

The light on the sand and dunes was so impressive I needed to get the shot and take it quickly. But there was no way I could get a shot (handheld) and not capture my own elongated shadow. The sun was right over my shoulder.

But never mind. The shadow serves to show that (1) I have the longest legs in recorded history, or (2) the angle of the sun's rays was very low. You take your pick.

By all means enlarge this shot, there's plenty in it; especially look at the light on the wonderful shrubbery. And in this photo there was absolutely no choice. It had to be black and white. Colour doesn't do the drama well enough!

Driving east on the Ring Road away from Kirkjubæjarklaustur towards Höfn there are many rivers and streams.

This stream is Hverfisfljót - nothing remarkable about it apart from the excellent light and heavy, dramatic sky inland, to the north, that made me stop and make a photo. Farm buildings at the right probably belong to Núpar Farm.

Not a small screen shot ;-)

Fuji X-Pro2, XF18/2, 1/220th sec at f/8, ISO 250.

This little lens is the sleeper of the XF line - it is a stellar landscape performer and the profile on the XP2 is very small.

A moody, low-key study of a Herdwick sheep on the Stiperstones ridge. By exposing for the bright evening highlights, the surrounding Shropshire landscape is plunged into a deep, velvety black, leaving only the glowing "halo" of the wool and the fine details of the grass in the foreground. This minimalist approach strips the scene down to its essential elements: the hardy resilience of the upland livestock and the ethereal quality of the golden hour light. The resulting image captures the quiet, sometimes solitary atmosphere of the Welsh border heights as day turns to night.

A dramatic winter scene at Uttakleiv Beach in the Lofoten Islands, featuring the famous “Dragon Eye” rock pool in the foreground. The swirling textures of the stone contrast with the crashing Arctic waves and the rugged, snow-dusted peaks in the distance. A moody, powerful landscape shaped by the constant force of sea and wind.

Glossy paint, sharp rims, taut canvas roof — every detail speaks of precision.

Behind it, an old house bears the marks of decades.

Winter becomes the neutral ground where past and present quietly confront each other.

sometimes, the best portraits aren’t planned. they just happen when the light is low, the atmosphere is thick with stories, and a stranger catches your eye. this man sat on a bench on paseo del borne in palma, the soft hum of post-sunset conversations around him. his face, framed by a long, majestic beard, held a certain defiance—rockstar energy, effortless cool, and an edge of mystery. his double sunglasses? an unapologetic flex that perfectly matched his vibe. it’s not about perfection; it’s about presence. enjoy the moment.

Sharjah (Arabic: الشارقة) is one of the emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The emirate covers 2,600 km² (1,003 mi²) and has a population of over 800,000 (2008). The emirate of Sharjah comprises the city of Sharjah (the seat of the emirate), and other minor towns and enclaves such as Kalba, Dibba Al-Hisn and Khor Fakkan. Sharjah also claims two islands, Sir Abu Nu’ayr and Abu Musa, with the latter claim being disputed and the island being controlled by Iran.

Historically, Sharjah was one of the wealthiest towns in this region with a settlement in existence for over 5000 years. In the early 18th century Al Qasimi clan (Huwala tribe) established itself in Sharjah, c. 1727 declaring Sharjah independent. On 8 January 1820, Sheikh Sultan I signed the General Maritime Treaty with Britain, accepting a protectorate to keep the Ottoman Turks out. Like four of its neighbours, Ajman, Dubai, Ras al-Khaimah, and Umm al-Qaiwain, its position on the route to India made it important enough to be recognized as a salute state.

Lucerne (Luzern), Switzerland in dramatic afternoon light. The light was so great I could not resist taking a tourist shot.

Lucerne (Luzern in German) was originally called Luciaria, which has been interpreted as "place of light" although other interpretations also exist.

This was taken during a short cruise on Lake Lucerne (I really slipped into the role of a tourist for a day) which turned out to be a great one-hour activity to do - beautiful views and an informative audioguide initiating the listeners to local sights and some history, or reviewing it.

Vivid autumn colours, strong sunshine and a super sky in this view of a swollen River Tees at High Force Waterfall. Taken from the viewpoint on the Pennine Way long distance footpath which passes to the left of the waterfall.

Abstract geometry of industrial forms emerging from deep shadow. A single shaft of light highlights the strict, repeating rhythm of metal gears against the chaotic, organic curves of coiled rubber tubes, creating a dense cinematic composition.

I love the way the clouds almost seem to bend over this tree. I wish the tree itself was more photogenic, and that I had been able to get more of it in frame.

Another of this sunset from the same roll as the prior image.

Yup, this is an icon in photography terms... I had nice weather for sunset but was just 5 min. LATE !! The light on the arch had just faded when my buddy and myself finally got here. I think this is nice enough to share with you all, but I look forward to going back again in the next year and trying to get a more dynamic version.

“A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.”

In this image, the protagonist pulls a chain with both hands: each link looks solid, bright, compact. But at the center there is one fragile point—darker, worn, weaker. And that is exactly where the chain gives way.

It is a truth that always applies: a system does not break where it is strong, it breaks where it is vulnerable. One weak link is enough to compromise the whole structure.

This is a virtual image created with Artificial Intelligence.

Not to replace photography or “pure” art, but to use a contemporary medium as a symbolic language. I do not become a slave to the machine: I use it to build metaphors, to provoke thought, and to remind human beings who they are—before any system, or any technology, tries to devour them.

Light makes all the difference - by day only a boring beech grove, at night correspondingly illuminated a gate to fantasy land
