Bir Ali is located on the spectacular coast road and it is surrounded by white sand dunes, green rocky mountains and black lava deposits. You can spend your afternoon swimming or relaxing on a white sand beach or spend overnight in beach huts. The surrounding coast is a mixture of volcanic landscape and occasional patches of sand dunes.

Spent the past week in Cabo San Lucas. Although I didn't have any of my "real cameras" with me, I took this one with my cellphone from a boat trip we did. I then edited it (sky replacement, black and white conversion, etc.) in PS.

We buried the masks a long time ago.

But some stages still remember our names. Reactivation in progress…

Once again, one from the archives. I've got quite a backlog as I've not shared much on Flickr in 2015, so apologies if you've seen this one elsewhere.

Red sand dunes cover the landscape in the region of Al-Ain, in the eastern region of Abu Dhabi emirate next to the border with Oman.

Al Ain is a fertile oasis city located approximately 160 kilometres east of the Abu Dhabi capital. Its name ("the spring" in Arabic) derives from its originally plentiful supply of fresh water, which makes its way underground across most of the plain lying before the Omani mountains.

One of those traditional local ger places where we stayed in Mongolia. It was particularly interesting night as we have adjusted our trip schedule and we were not really sure where we stay that night. We have passed couple of camps that our guide thought we might stay, but none were there, so we had to drive on.

Imagine complete darkness, no signs, just dust road (if you can actually call it a road) and nothing around us. We started to be bit worried where we'll sleep that night, but somehow our driver remembered one family he stayed over once. I have no idea how he found it, but he did. There were two of these gers where a family lived their usual life. We arrived there and they were very kind to let us stay in one of their gers. They all move over to the other smaller one. Imagine, it is like you live in your house, some strange group of foreigners come over and you move to your garden house and give them all your house to stay in. We have been deeply impressed and thankful. This definitely wasn't typical tourist thing, but real life experience, especially when all 7 of slept in this one ger… you really have to rethink what is your personal space..

Week #8 - Mythology

#LGC #Letsgetcreative #LGC2015

This week was one of the main reasons I joined this challenge. As soon as I saw ‘mythology’ as a theme, I knew I had a place to share two of my obsessions: iconography and religion. This, what I’m representing in this photo, is something that I’ve held very close to my heart ever since I was 13, and even though I have only half-practiced when I was a teenager, I adore the culture and the history of it: Candomblé, or Yoruba.

This religion was its roots in Africa and was taken to Brazil (and the rest of Latin America) by slaves. These men and women, forbidden by Catholics of practicing their own rites, found a way to mesh the two religions, with connections that last to this very day. Every Orixá, or deity, has a Catholic correspondence, in the form of a saint or a figure of the church. My Orixá is Oxum, usually represented by Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception (in Portugal and in some places in Brazil) or Our Lady of Charity de El Cobre (in Cuba). A more widely known Orixá is Yemanjá, who has a big following in Portugal because she is usually connected with Our Lady of Fatima. Just to exemplify. (You’ll have to forgive me, I get really excited when I get to talk about this).

I have been completely in love with this religion since I was thirteen years old, I have read book after book and it’s just one of those things from my teenagehood that brings me an immense amount of comfort. I’m a daughter of Oxum, the Orixá of the rivers and lakes, mother of lovers and deity of vanity (self-portrait artist, anyone?), of beauty and wealth, represented by the colors yellow and white (and gold), by a mirror in her hand and the waters of the river Osun, located in Nigeria. I tried to hold on to this iconography while giving it my own spin. I hope you guys like it! And that you don’t think I’m a weirdo. :p

I use Artificial Intelligence not to create “prettier” images or to compete with photographers and graphic artists, but as an expressive tool: it allows me to transform ideas and concepts into visual manifestos.

My works are not meant to pursue aesthetics for its own sake: they are meant to say something, to spark human and social reflection, and sometimes to express a clear stance.

For me, AI is a means to communicate with strength and immediacy a message that can make people think and, in some way, bring value.AI-generated images, not for aesthetics or competition.

I use AI as an expressive tool to create visual manifestos: works meant to communicate ideas, spark human/social reflection, and sometimes take a stance.

Almanzo my love, beneath this wild air hides a heart of gold ♥

THE TRUTH ALWAYS COMES OUT.

I created this image to represent a simple and unavoidable idea: sooner or later, truth rises to the surface.

Even when someone tries to bury it, darken it, distort it, or keep it hidden, truth always finds a way through.

In this scene, the dark glass becomes a metaphor for a mind filled with omissions, silence and lies — yet something inside still moves, emerges, ignites, and breaks the surface. It is that precise moment when what was hidden becomes visible, and pretending is no longer possible.

I am creating a series of images inspired by proverbs because proverbs are the moral memory of humanity: in just a few words they contain experience, wounds, justice, irony, and survival.

I chose to create them digitally with Artificial Intelligence not because this technology can replace photography or “pure” art, but because I want to use a new tool without becoming its servant.

I want to bend the instrument to my own language — turning it into poetic provocation and visual protest.

Before the virtual becomes a weapon against human beings, I use it to remind human beings who they are.

And above all, to remind that truth — even when buried — always comes out.

In the heart of the sanctum, veiled in shadow and silence, the flickering candles guard relics of a bygone age. A dragon-clad grimoire rests atop arcane scrolls, while sigils of protection and summoning whisper through the air like echoes of the damned. Here, time stands still, and only those who dare to seek the forbidden may unlock its secrets.

in the hidden corners of the city, where light meets shadow, a lone figure strides with purpose. the bright red of a bandana punctuates the deep contrast of concrete and darkness, a bold statement against a canvas of muted grays and blacks. from above, the perspective shifts — a solitary silhouette caught in a moment of transition, moving from the shadows into the light, or perhaps the other way around. the ground beneath, textured and weathered, tells stories of countless steps, of journeys untold. the sharp geometry of shadows cuts through the scene, creating a sense of tension and mystery. it’s a fleeting glimpse of urban solitude, a dance between movement and stillness, light and dark, captured in a moment that invites contemplation.

For you Stephen King fans out there I hope you'll agree with me that this place has the look and feel of the Overlook hotel. But I doubt the architect would appreciate my opinion. : ))

Best viewed LARGE.

this black-and-white photograph captures the sweeping architecture of a vast hallway, where repetitive cutouts and curving lines draw the viewer into a rhythmic flow. a single figure seated in the distance adds a poignant human element, highlighting the scale and solitude of the space. the dramatic contrast and geometric patterns transform the scene into an almost surreal moment, as if time is suspended within the architectural rhythm. it’s an invitation to pause and contemplate within the interplay of light, shadow, and form.

A close-up portrait of a majestic elk, captured in the quiet of the forest.

The soft velvet on its antlers and the deep shadows create a fine art, black-and-white mood — powerful, timeless, and serene.

Shot with natural light, processed for a dramatic yet natural look.

Portrait rapproché d’un élan majestueux, capturé dans le silence de la forêt.

La douceur du velours sur ses bois et les ombres profondes créent une ambiance fine art en noir et blanc — puissante, intemporelle et apaisante.

In the silent courtyard of the Palais Royal, reflections become fragments of memory.

The metallic spheres gather like a suspended crown beneath the shadows of history, where solitude quietly observes the passing of time.

A lonely road fades into the mist, swallowed by the silent whispers of the trees. The air is thick with mystery, as if the forest itself is guarding a secret, waiting for those brave enough to listen.

(Une route solitaire s'efface dans la brume, avalée par les murmures silencieux des arbres. L'air est chargé de mystère, comme si la forêt elle-même protégeait un secret, attendant ceux qui auront le courage d'écouter.)

I took this at the Gorge White House in Pine Grove, Oregon, which is just outside of Hood River in the Columbia Gorge. It looks a little unreal, but that’s the way it looked. I actually had to drop the saturation a bit to bring it to heel.

Dramatic light on the Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore in Venice, Italy.

The Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore (Church of the Most Holy Redeemer) is a 16th-century Roman Catholic church located in the Giudecca sestiere of the Italian city of Venice. It was designed by the architect Andrea Palladio and built as a votive church to thank God for the deliverance of the city from a major outbreak of the plague.

"Light Breaks Through" Grand Haven, Michigan. This break in the clouds didn't last very long. I had to hurry to set up and capture this. October in Michigan is AMAZING!

Bronze soldiers at the Korean War Veterans Memorial move through the trees under raking light. The night compresses the scene into a line of faces and ponchos—quiet, watchful, and resolute. National Mall, Washington, D.C.

This one is actually my favorite when it comes to light and how the morning sidelight picks up different details in the mountains, creating a dramatic effect as other parts now stay in the shade, making the Sorapiss mountains look more 3D and less like a backdrop - but the wind has picked up so the reflection is no longer undisturbed. So overall, I like the one four photos to the right in my stream the best of these sunrise shots. I'm still glad I stayed to see this light.

The building in this fantastic location is a centre for diagnosis, treatment and management for childhood asthma. Somehow it gives me a glimmer of hope in humanity that this wonderful spot isn't reserved for those with the most money, but those most in need of the pure air at 1752m above sea level in the mountains. The rest of us can still visit.

EN A chiaroscuro gaze, suspended between confession and enigma.

The pose brushes against silence, each gesture held like a half-revealed secret.

Light carves the mystery, sliding across the skin and settling in the eyes where everything begins, and nothing is ever fully said.

Karakoram is a large mountain range spanning the borders between India, Pakistan, and China, located in the regions of Gilgit, Ladakh, and Baltistan. It is one of the Greater Ranges of Asia, often considered together with the Himalaya, but not technically part of that range. The Karakoram is home to more than sixty peaks above 7,000m (22,960 ft), including K2, the second highest peak of the world (8,611 m, 28,251 ft). K2 is just 237 m smaller than the 8,848 m tall Mount Everest. The range is about 500 km (300 mi) in length, and is the most heavily glaciated part of the world outside of the polar regions. The Siachen Glacier at 70 km and the Biafo Glacier at 63 km rank as the world's second and third longest glaciers outside the polar regions.

This photo was captured at Duikar - Eagle’s Nest view point. it is one of the most amazing places I've ever visited. The thing I particularly like about this shot is the different layers and shades of colors ending up with dark silhouette of a lonely traveler at the very left bottom corner overlooking sunset of Mt. Spantik also known as Golden Peak (7027m - most attainable 7000m peak in the Karakoram). Eagle’s Nest is situated in the village of Duikar, which is preached on a 2850 meter high ridge above Altit village in Hunza valley. Eagle’s Nest is one of the best and most beautiful viewpoints in the whole of Hunza valley. Even if you don’t have time to stay long it is a must to come up to see the sunrise or sunset views on Hunza valley and Rakaposhi and the other peaks surrounding Eagle’s Nest.
