First of the TETRAD moons rising over the end of Sandown Pier.
from the Daily Mirror online "Apocalypse now? Rare blood moon claimed to signal the end of the world is coming.
This week sees the beginning of a cosmic phenomenon which some Christians have linked to the end of days.
A 'Tetrad' sees four "dark blood-red moons" appear in the skies and is a precursor to "hugely significant events" say experts."

Thomas Emmett, Dodgems
Deanshanger, 12 October 2012
Until this year the only lorry on the fairs to have been bought brand new by a showman was Keith Emmett's 1996 Volvo FH. Not to be outdone, his brother Thomas took delivery of this Scania from Keltruck in March. It is a rare factory-built 6x4 to heavy-duty construction spec with a rated GVW in excess of 80 tonnes and was apparently a cancelled order. The cab has been airbrushed by well-known artist Matt with superb images combining Hollywood legends and fairground themes and photos really don't do it justice.

John Thurston, 'Grand Prix' Dodgems
Cambridge, 30 June 2009
This year's Cambridge Midsummer Fair is about to open but with much the same lineup as previous years I didn't bother going for the pull on. The fair has been in decline for some time and several established tenants no longer attend, notably including John Thurston, whose family had owned this plot for over a century, but who pulled out after the 2009 event citing excessive ground rent.
The dodgems sit in a corner of the walled garden patiently waiting to rattle into each other again.

Ex Rugby Cement
After running for many years in the orange livery of its previous owner, Albert Smith has treated his Foden to a repaint and some smart lettering. He is apparently very fond of this vehicle as it belonged to his late father (also named Albert) and it sees use with various loads; I have now seen it with the Round Up, Fun House, and as here, the Dodgems.

Thomas Emmett, Dodgems
Campbell Park, Milton Keynes, 27 October 2013
Thomas Emmett's Dodgems have returned to their usual position in Campbell Park and every time I see them they seem to have different transport. This Iveco was bought to pull the track when it was converted to an artic load, but here is coupled to the car trailer that was formerly seen behind the new Scania, and has also recently been fitted with the hydraulic crane transferred from the green ERF..

The first time I have ever seen this load pulling on to Campbell Park as it usually makes the short six-mile journey from Emmetts' yard on Saturday and is largely built up by the time most other loads start arriving on Sunday. This year however it didn't turn up until 1:30 on Sunday afternoon.

Albert Smith (Leighton Buzzard), Dodgems
Campbell Park, Milton Keynes, 27 October 2013
Keith Emmett has reportedly sold his Deluxe Dodgems, and taking their place at Campbell Park this year is the vintage Supercar track owned by Albert Smith. This seems to be rarely seen at fairs as it mainly attends private events, and is a very traditional looking load carried on an eight-wheel frame lorry. The trailers appear to have been swapped from their normal configuration as these were carrying the registration of H620 GKK, while the latter lorry was towing a box trailer carrying this one's registration.
