“Even
After
All this time
The Sun never says to the Earth,
"You owe me."
Look
What happens
With a love like that,
It lights the whole sky.”

THE SECRET KISSING OF THE SUN AND MOON – HANG MASSIVE
Guy Fawkes Night
Bonfire Night
November the 5th
Enjoy the ride; hold on tight
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The rockets sound and flash
all the children shriek out and dash
the Catherine Wheels spin
leaving behind a trail of ash
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Excited with sparklers in hand
drowning the sound out of the local brass band
children and adults cheering alike
running and laughing all over the land
HOORAH! HOORAH! HOORAH!
Candy floss and toffee apples
so sweet among the shifting shadows dapple
whatever you do never forget
to brush your teeth and floss before evening chapel
GLUG! GLUG! GLUG!
Diving in and out of tents
refreshments and baked potatoes meant
for everybody in the village
corks flying in all directions sent
POP! POP! POP!
Chilly November; Jack Frost so debonair
hats, scarfs and mittens knitted with itchy mohair
knee-deep in mud; that familiar sinking feeling
enjoying the occasion with devil-may-care
SPLODGE! SPLODGE! SPLODGE!
Stalls a-plenty like a travelling fairground
night air filled with a cacophony of sound
dodgems and side-shows
side-by-side with old and new friends found
BEEP-BEEP! BEEP-BEEP! BEEP-BEEP!
Spare a penny for the guy
then hoist him up on high
set a matchstick to the pyre
wave a final wave goodbye
CRACKLE! CRACKLE! CRACKLE
The tinder of the kindling catches
beware and only use safety matches
cries of the children sounding in awe
memories stored in little packages
WOW! WOW! WOW!
Toasting marshmallows by the fire
the rain has stopped; we sink in the mire
our wellies; our brollies; our toffee-apple lollies
this night is one of which we'll never tire
WHERE ELSE WOULD WE RATHER BE! : 0)

Thanks for visiting. I am very grateful for the very kind comments and faves.
Abandoned fairground in Pripyat, Ukraine. Abandondoned since the Chernobyl nuclear accident in 1986. Taken in infra red.
This is Rachael Toohey, sister of Miss Rebecca T, who shot alongside me today.
Taken on the dodgems at a funfair... Many more to come!
So is there such a thing as taking things just a little too seriously? I love the 'I'm gonna get ya' look in the young lads eyes to the right.
Not much processing on this one, moderate colour boost in Lightroom.
I have a competition coming up with the subject tag of FORMATION.
I will not be entering pix of aircraft flying in formation.
'Kimi 01' aka Lockheed U-2S 68-10337 about to touch down - aided and abetted by another U-2 pilot sat in that high-powered car tucked right in behind her.
As the U-2 crosses the runway threshold, the Chase Car - in this case a 6.1L Dodge Charger, accelerates hard to keep pace with the U-2 where the Right Hand seat's occupant gives vital height and speed information to Kimi's pilot as he attempts to get his 'Bird' back down onto Terra Firma
Once firmly down the aircraft will eventually roll to a halt and tip a wing down onto one of the wing-tip protective bumpers
Then a ground crew who also followed her down the runway will arrive and fit the outriggers under each wing that fell away when she departed
Satisfied that all is well, she then taxies back to park

I'm back from my golfing mini-break and I am so far behind on Flickr that I want to cry! Never mind, slowly but surely.
I seem to be a bit obsessed by reflections at the minute and following on from my last shot this is another one from my day trip to Bristol in the summer. The object on the left is a dome shaped building that has those sections of reflective panelling all over it. One of those things that the longer you stared at it the more you saw. The wheel in the background was set back a distance from where I was standing but I thought it added nicely to the composition here.
More decaying fairground rides in Pripyat, left abandoned since 1986 when the nearby nuclear plant at Chernobyl exploded.
Bumper cars or dodgems is the generic name for a type of flat ride consisting of several small electrically powered cars which draw power from the floor and/or ceiling, and which are turned on and off remotely by an operator. They are also known as bumping cars, dodging cars and dashing cars.
From the Maidult of Regensburg.
Just returned from the most surreal few days of my life in Ukraine, exploring Chernobyl, Pripyat and the surrounding area plus a little mooch around Maidan in Kiev
single raw file , just adjusted levels as no time for editing at the moment.
