Almost as iconic as the Ferris Wheel. No-one ever drove these cars as the city was abandoned before the May 1st opening.

Road Transport Images have recently introduced a showman's luton body for eight-wheelers. For my first example I have chosen to use an ERF C-series cab on RTI's own chassis and wheels, but with slight modifications it will fit on other diecast chassis. Finished in the livery of the fictional Stan Smith & Sons' Super Deluxe Dodgems, carrying roof trusses from the track by Langley Models and towing a 3D printed paybox, it is a very typical 1990s fairground lorry and a particular favourite of mine.

Thomas Jones Jnr, Dodgems
Warwick, 18 October 2013
Ex Marley
The Volvo FH has established itself on the fairs and the lower FM is now following. Still bearing the name of its previous owner, V697 DBR is now owned by Thomas Jones Jnr and used for a variety of duties, but here is pulling the dodgem car trailer, although the reason for its presence in Warwick is uncertain as his dodgems were not present there.
A recent purchase from an eBay dealer is this beautifully-built AEC Mammoth Major dodgem lorry. The frame body appears to have been built onto the original EFE flatbed using brass strip and the trailer is completely scratchbuilt. The dodgem cars are whitemetal but keeping the poles on during transport is unusual and would make them very vulnerable to damage. The living wagon is scratchbuilt from balsa wood and came from a different seller.
Foden Alpha 3000 M11 440 XL, reg. no. W554 COM, operated by Stuart Danter & Sons hauling the 'Drivetime' dodgems ride for Danter's Fun Fair. The fair was situated on the riverside in Newport, South Wales for the annual 'The Big Splash' event. The picture was taken on 15 July 2012.

John Drake, on loan to Thomas Sneap
Buckingham, 21 October 2010
Thomas Sneap owns two Ferris Wheels and normally brings his No.1 example to Buckingham, but for the 2nd Mop in 2010 the No.2 'Super Delux' wheel took its place for the first and only time. Unexpectedly on transport duties was this ERF lettered for Basil Drake's Amusements but now owned by his son John for use with his Dodgems.

It was so dark indoors that a slow shutter speed was needed, and as a result the dodgems disappeared in a blur of speed. But they were not that fast really!
