So we're back to Nottingham's annual Goose Fair, the largest outdoor fun fair in Europe. Once a year in the first week of October the Forest Recreation Ground gives itself over to rides, palm readers, mushy pea vendors (don't ask) and loads of hook a duck stalls. It's awesome for it's pure cheesiness.

Here I've used a wide angle lens to capture the height and depth of the ride. The monochrome processing is intended to add a vintage feel to this composition,

Luna was filled with mixed emotions as she gazed at her damaged spacecraft. On one hand, she was thrilled to have discovered a hidden lunar metropolis and the possibility of a new life. On the other hand, she couldn't shake the feeling that she had left everything and everyone she loved behind.

With a heavy heart, she returned to the city and sought out Cybelle. She found her in a bustling marketplace, haggling with a merchant over the price of the latest neural implants.

"Cybelle, I need your help," Luna said, interrupting their conversation.

"What's wrong?" Cybelle asked, noticing the sadness etched on Luna's face.

"I can't go back to Earth. My ship is damaged beyond repair. What shall I do?" asked Luna.

Cybelle smiled, "I’m sure we can fix it. But for now I have a job for you. We have a training school for our elderly pilots. They can get a bit carried away. Sometimes they even forget to bring their glasses! Do you think you could help them?”

A little later Luna was confronted by the sight of a dozen space-grannies careening and swerving through the sky above her head, narrowly avoiding disaster. It was like dodgems at zero gravity.

She realised at once she had a mission!

Kingsbridge Fairweek was always a big photo opportunity time for me. Now we have moved to Portishead does not mean I will not miss out in 2018.

I'm once again delving into my archived photos from my 2019 Chernobyl trip. It was an amazing experience - I'd like to go somewhere similar. If you have any recommendations, please drop them in the comments 👇👇👇

A long abandoned dodgem car at a fair within the ghost town of Pripyat, Ukraine...

The fair was due to have its grand opening on 1st May 1986, in time for the May Day celebrations. These plans were cancelled on 26 April 1986, when the Chernobyl disaster occurred a few kilometres away. The whole city was evacuated and has stood abandoned for over 30 years.

☢️ CHERNOBYL, Take 2! ☢️

Facebook reminded me that it's been a year to the month since I made my amazing (and eventful) trip inside the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.

At the time, I only edited and shared 11 photos. This is partly because I wanted to focus my attention on "Nature's Reclamation" of Prypiat (see my blog - www.hocking-photography.co.uk/post/chernobyl-reclamation), but mostly because I just didn't know how to go about editing these spring-time shots in an aesthetic suited to the subject.

Over the last year, and particularly the last few weeks, I've learned how to Split Tone & Colour Grade in Lightroom for a more cinematic look - together with the subtle use of creating an "Orton Effect" for a glowy/dreamy look. This has opened the door for me to edit and share dozens more photos from the trip - which I'll do over the coming weeks...

I love the car from the original 1960's batman series and i love vintage fairground rides, especially the dodgems.

Hope you like my mash-up of the two..

Many thanks for looking.
