Another Scan of one of my Old Slides taken with a Minolta Maxxim 5000 SLR Film Camera. I believe I took this at the annual Lead East Car Show in Parsippany, New Jersey in the Early to Mid 1990's.
Does Anyone Remember This Bumper Car ?
Pripyat, Ukraine has to be one of the most fascinating places I've ever visited. The town housing workers and their families for the nearby Chernobyl power plant, it was abandoned in April 1986 after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The Soviet authorities managed to evacuate around 50,000 people in a mere 2 hours and 40 minutes; that's quite an impressive feet and required the use of over 1,000 buses from cities all over Ukraines, Belarus and Russia.

Rear view of the dodgem load showing the paybox in more detail. The artwork is reproduced from a photo of James Harris's paybox, and plastic strip has been added around the top with the lighting painstakingly painted on. The model is fictional but looks fairly typical of the modern Adesko fold-up tracks and was loosely inspired by the dodgems travelled by John Thurston and John Bugg.

Atkinson Mark 1
Sid Lendrum, Dodgems
Fringford, 31 July 2006
An amazing survivor after many years in showland use is this 1962-vintage Atkinson built as a 6x6 gritter for the motorway network. It first entered the travelling community in the 1980s with Austen Bros Circus, who fitted the bodywork and crane, and later moved on to the fairs with the Oxfordshire-based Lendrum family. At some later stage Sid Lendrum removed the back axle to make it into a 4x4. I stumbled across their hard-to-find small traditional fair on Fringford village green in 2006.

Don Ive, Dodgems
Buckingham, 11 October 2019
The most surprising change to this year's lineup was the absence, for the first time in more than 20 years, of Marshall Nichols's dodgems. In their place stood Don Ive's fold-up Supercar track, similar to the one owned by Scarrotts.
So that is how dodgems hibernate! Walton on the Naze Pier, New Year's Day, 2019. Happy New Year to all my flickr contacts, and I hope you had a great Christmas. D800_46279.NEF. Many thanks for views, comments and favourites.
Road Transport Images have recently introduced a showman's luton body for eight-wheelers. For my first example I have chosen to use an ERF C-series cab on RTI's own chassis and wheels, but with slight modifications it will fit on other diecast chassis. Finished in the livery of the fictional Stan Smith & Sons' Super Deluxe Dodgems, carrying roof trusses from the track by Langley Models and towing a 3D printed paybox, it is a very typical 1990s fairground lorry and a particular favourite of mine.

2012 Scania R480
Thomas Emmett, Dodgems
Campbell Park, Milton Keynes, 11 November 2013
At the opposite end of the age spectrum to Albert Smith's ERF is the Scania bought brand new by Thomas Emmett last year, which is still just 18 months old and the most modern lorry on the fairs. The magnificent airbrushing is very evident, with Marilyn Monroe and a Waltzer car on this side of the cab.
This is L. Thirlwall of Croglin, Carlisle's, Atkinson 8x4, reg no. KYC 251D. This Atkinson, used to be used by Ernie Devey, to transport No.1 dodgems, around the country, for Anderton & Rowland's Funfairs.

John Scarrott, Dodgems
Irchester, 30 June 2011
Scarrotts' fair at Irchester is quite small at the moment as the family's Twist is open in Kettering and the Waltzer isn't quite ready yet. The Dodgems will be adding to the lineup next week but for now they are parked up in the corner of the ground and due to attend a paid event.
The crazy results i got from various exposures & light trails were phenominal....i particulrly liked this one though.
Anderton & Rowlands' dodgem loads pause for a break on the way to their next ground. Both vehicles are complete works of fiction that bear no relation to anything used by the real A&R, an EFE Bedford TK and an Oxford Diecast AEC Ergomatic, both with Trackside loads.

TOM 911S

Thomas Emmett, Dodgems
Deanshanger, 9 October 2010
The latest addition to Thomas Emmett's transport fleet is this LHD double-drive Scania T-cab imported from somewhere overseas (I forget exactly where he said it came from but have a feeling it was eastern Europe, possibly Romania). He has re-registered it with personalised registration TOM 911S which would surely be sought after by any Porsche 911S drivers called Tom! Although he bought it during the summer, my first sighting of it was not until October at Deanshanger's annual village Feast.
